Biography

Guido "Guy" Swinnen (Kaggevinne, March 27 1960) is a Belgian musician, best known as lead singer and guitarist of The Scabs.
His parents are Marcel Swinnen and Saint Theresa. The latter also had some regional success as a painter. Guy Swinnen began in 1978 with The Scabs , a group that was one of the most famous Belgian rock bands from the 80s and 90s. After the split, he went solo under his own name, and with the groups "Jonesy", "Swinnen" and "Guy Swinnen and the banned". Swinnen starred in the "Players and Drinkers" tour that brought a homage to Johan Verminnen. With Jan Hautekiet and Andries Boone he spent from 2002 Hard Times Revisited, a selection from the The Scabs -repertoire Swinnen and several new songs. This tour a live CD was created.
At the request of Kurt Overbergh Swinnen played with The Scabs in 2007 several reunion concerts in the Ancienne Belgique . This reunion will give them a place in 2008 at the poster of TW Classic. In 1983 and in 1992 they were already on the then 'Torhout / Werchter. The biannual Living Roots project Guy Swinnen played with Jan De Smet (New String) and Raf Walschaerts (Kommil Foo) some songs that have influenced them.
