Biography
1. Plan B (real name Ben Drew, b. 1983) is a rapper from Forest Gate, London. From the age of 11 he attended Anglo European School in Ingatestone Essex, before transfering to Tom Hood, an inner-city comprehensive. He has described his character, in these school days, as "a bit of a cunt". He is signed to 679 Recordings, home to UK rap act The Streets. His unique sound is characterised by his use of acoustic beats and lyrics involving drugs, rape, murder and underage sex. He was placed fourth in the BBC's "Sound of 2006" competition.
His second album was released in April 2010; The Defamation of Strickland Banks was released on 12 April 2010. The album is a departure from the sound heard on Plan B's debut album Who Needs Actions When You Got Words, with the rapper's sophomore effort showcasing much more of his singing ability. Lyrically the album's songs tell the fictitious tale of one Strickland Banks, a sharp-suited British soul singer who finds fame with bitter-sweet love songs like the album's opener "Love Goes Down", but then loses everything when he ends up in prison for a crime he didn't commit.
The album was a great success, reaching #1 in the UK album charts, and three singles from the album reached the top 20 of the UK singles charts, with 'Stay Too Long' reaching #9 and 'She Said' reaching #3.
On March 23, 2012 Plan B released “Ill Manors,” the title track of the soundtrack to the British film of the same title, which he wrote and directed.
2.Plan B is a Puerto Rican Reggaeton duo, consisting of Chencho (real name Orlando Javier Valle Vega, born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico) and Maldy (Edwin Vázquez Vega, born in Guayama, Puerto Rico), who are co-working cousins. At an early age they had an attraction to Reggaeton music; all their efforts finally began to pay off when they met the famous music producer, DJ Blass, who gave them two the opportunity to participate in a Reggaeton compilation album called @ria 51: Aliados Al Escuadron and released their first recording "Voy Subiendo" in 1999. At the time they were called "The Panic" until after their song "Plan B" (feat. Guelo Star) from the album Reggaeton Sex Vol. 2 (2000), also produced by DJ Blass. It had everyone wondering 'Plan B' and then Chencho and Maldy dropped their original names and Plan B was born. They further continued their careers in the genre by participating in compilation and live albums from DJ Blass like Triple Sexxx (2001), Reggaeton Sex Live (2001), Sandunguero Vol. 1 (2001), and eventually Reggaeton Sex Crew (2002).
In 2002 they rose to fame, and released their first studio album, called El Mundo Del Plan B: Los Que La Montan. It featured collaborations with Daddy Yankee, Speedy, Rey Pirin, Great Kilo, Guelo Star, and other artists and producers. Chencho and now Maldy are both producers, Chencho has his own record label by the name plagio of Chencho Records, Maldy has his, Maldy Records. They released their second album in 2005 called Los Nenes Del Blin Blin. Maldy's album, released in 2007, was named Reggaeton De Markesina. The duo released their third album in 2010 called House of Pleasure and released singles from the album such as "Si No Le Contesto" and Es Un Secreto. Finally, the duo released their fourth album in 2014 called Love and Sex and worked with artists like Alexis & Fido, J Alvarez, Tego Calderón, Zion & Lennox and Amaro.
They have been featured in many productions including Luny Tunes & Noriega: Mas Flow (Song: Tu Sabes), DJ Sonic's "Los Abusadores", "Guatauba XXX". DJ Blass from Guayama, Puerto Rico, produced many of their songs including hits like "Frikitona", "Mencionando Tu Nombre", "Plan B", and more.
