New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Cypress Media Group) The Musicians of the San Francisco Symphony will present a Benefit Concert in support of the SF-Marin Food Bank on Sunday, June 8 at 7:30 pm at Congregation Sherith
Israel on California Street.
"The Musicians of the San Francisco Symphony are delighted that we are able to partner with Sherith
Israel to present this concert to benefit the Food Bank, whose mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin," said violinist and concert organizer Melissa Kleinbart. "Our mission as musicians is to share classical music with our community and feed souls. We are pleased to be able to give back to the community by doing a benefit to help those who are struggling to feed their families."
"We are thrilled that the Musicians of the San Francisco Symphony and Congregation Sherith
Israel are working together to present this concert to benefit our programs to feed the hungry," said Rachel Breuer of the SF Food Bank. "High unemployment and the lingering effects of the recession have pushed record numbers of people in San Francisco and Marin to the point of hunger. While government safety net programs are stretched thin with budget cuts, people can still count on the Food Bank, an organization that is getting more food to more families than ever before."
"Congregation Sherith
Israel is deeply grateful that the Musicians of the San Francisco Symphony are giving their time and energy to help us raise funds for the SF-Marin Food Bank," said Amy Mallor, Executive
Director of CSI. "This Food Bank distributes 105,000 meals worth of food daily. Each week 30,000 area families receive wholesome foods at SF-Marin food pantries."
The Grammy Award-winning Musicians of the San Francisco Symphony will present a concert of classical and neo-classical works, performing without a conductor in the beautiful acoustic of historic Sherith Israel. "Performing these classic works without a conductor is an exciting challenge and brings us closer together as artists by improving our ensemble skills," said
Sasha Barantchik, Concertmaster of the San Francisco Symphony, who will lead the orchestra from the first violin desk in Prokofiev's Classical Symphony.
