San Diego, CA (Top40 Charts/ Green Light Go) Write with conviction; be creative and adventurous; share openly and in earnest: These are the principles by which Mike Wojniak lives his life and composes his music. Reviewers have hailed him as a poet, a relevant and powerful voice, and an amiable storyteller. He has shared the stage with many established acts including Patrick Watson, Red Wanting Blue and Denison Witmer. Additionally, Wojniak was a winner of the 2012 Columbus Bicentennial song contest.
Wojniak's unique style has been shaped by artists such as Andrew Belle, Sleeping at Last and Bon Iver; however, while these influences are discernible, Wojniak's airy melodies, auspicious lyrics, and intricate compositions don't simply mirror the genre, they add to it. Many of Wojniak's compositions have been inspired by his travels and the varied settings and characters he has encountered along the way. Having traveled to Europe, Central
America and all over the United States composing and performing (and even teaching, as he did in Nicaragua), Wojniak has steadily built a widespread, enthusiastic fan base.
In January 2013, Wojniak left his Midwestern hometown of Columbus, Ohio, and settled in San Diego, California where he has been writing and performing ever since. Recently, Wojniak partnered with a new independent label, and after more than a decade of music making as an independent artist, Wojniak will release his fourth studio effort, Anima Mundi, through Golden Wave Records (San Diego).
Anima Mundi, a four-song EP centered on the mutuality of nature and humankind, builds on Wojniak's previous albums: Libero (2012), Memento Vivere (2010), and Follow the Crane
(2008)-LPs that explore themes of the impermanence of life and love and the complexities of relationships and interdependence. A Western states tour in support of Anima Mundi is planned for summer, 2014, with stops in Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Boise and Denver, among other cities.
