Heaven's Jail Sing Down-And-Out Anthems On Phosphorescent-Produced 'Ace Called Zero' (Aug 26/ Heart Break Beat)
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) On August 26, Brooklyn trio Heaven's Jail release 'Ace Called Zero' (Heart Break Beat Records), a raw 10-song set produced by Phosphorescent's Matthew Houck - the first time he's produced a band other than his own - and engineered by The Men's Ben Greenberg. Listen to the Warren Zevon-channeling single "Mother Mary Madonna" at Brooklyn Vegan here:

"Francesco [Ferorelli, singer] is my favorite kind of songwriter: sensitive but not sappy, smart but not precious," Houck says. "He has the ability to casually sneak complex imagery and metaphor into a deceptively simple package. It's just great songwriting. Simple as that."

These are songs for the zeros, for the down-and-out playing their last hand, desperately hoping to pull an ace from their sleeve but coming up empty-handed. Owing as much to Thin Lizzy as it does to Kris Kristofferson, 'Ace Called Zero' draws from band members' earliest influences.

"I didn't grow up listening to indie rock, and it's just not in our DNA," says Ferorelli. "I grew up in New York City listening to rap music and Black Sabbath. But they had these stores where you could get bootleg CDs and I found this cheap Johnny Cash's Greatest Hits for five dollars. I always liked hard rock and heavy metal, but I got into old country music going to those stores."

The band will preview the new songs at an NYC show at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory on July 1st. More US dates to be announced.

Heaven's Jail is: Francesco Ferorelli - vocals/guitar James Preston - bass/harmonies Ethan Schmid - drums
