Two Extraordinary Albums From 90's NY Noise Alt-Rockers Cop Shoot Cop To Be Reissued On Limited Edition Colored Vinyl!
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Glass Onyon PR) Cop Shoot Cop rose from the ashes of a still smoldering NYC in the late 1980s to become one of the most stridently original, truly alternative bands to ever break out of the underground and land a major label record deal. When Spin magazine listed 40 of the "weirdest" bands swept up by the majors post-Nirvana's Nevermind, Cop Shoot Cop earned its spot alongside The Flaming Lips, The Melvins, Ween, The Jesus Lizard, and Mr. Bungle. Now, for the first time since their initial release, Cop Shoot Cop's two major label masterpieces will be available on vinyl from Cleopatra Records, starting with Ask Questions Later on October 14 followed by Release, on October 28.

Jim Coleman, the band's longtime sampler, reflects back on those early years of the band when they would share the stage with other underground luminaries including Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore, Helmet and Marilyn Manson. "For Cop Shoot Cop, there were no deep thoughts about making music as a 'career.' It wasn't even a choice. All of us in Cop were driven by necessity to make the noise that we did. The collision of [vocalist/bassist] Tod [A.]'s socio-political sarcasm, [drummer] Phil [Puleo]'s vertical scrap metal drumming, [vocalist/bassist Jack] Natz's low end nihilism and my own audio collage & sample fetishism came together to form a whole way greater than its parts."

Signing to Interscope in 1993, the band released Ask Questions Later, which spawned a college radio and MTV hit "$10 Bill." "Ask Questions Later," Coleman continues, "to me is our most diverse (and personally my favorite) album, and as such, shows the individual strengths of each of the core members. The album has a far reach, ranging from the anger of "Surprise, Surprise" to the experimentalism of "Seattle" and "Untitled" to the emerging pop sensibilities heard in "Everybody Loves You". Release, on the other hand, is a slightly more polished affair. It could be seen as more focused and contained. In a way, we were most cohesive as a band in Release. All of us in Cop were working together. Release doesn't have the stray ends and tangents heard in Ask Questions Later. As an album and as individual tracks, it could be seen as being the stronger album of the two due to this focus."
