While the trio's musical backgrounds span from putting on weekly performances as children (Amitai and Pene in the rest home their farther worked in, and Moses in a local hospital to the mentally ill), to mastering the guitar and ukulele and earning Bachelors of Music from the University of Auckland, it was when Moses and Pene sang in the choir behind Andrea Bocelli in 2008 that their eyes and ears were fully opened to the possibilities of opera. Their newfound passion set them on a course that would lead to the formation of SOL3 MIO in 2011. In the years since, the trio has made it their mission to use their family honed, uncontainable Samoan humor to entertain audiences and bring opera to the masses.
