 LONDON, UK (Sony BMG) - Horst Unterholzner was named Managing Director, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Austria, it was announced today by Maarten Steinkamp. Mr. Unterholzner will report directly to Mr. Steinkamp, who is Chairman and CEO, Sony BMG Germany/Switzerland/Austria as well as head of Sony BMG's operations in Continental Europe. "Horst brings to Sony BMG a unique combination of creative skills and a strong command of business and operational issues based on his broad experience," commented Mr. Steinkamp. "I am confident that under his passionate leadership, Sony BMG will be a leader in the Austrian market." Mr. Unterholzner most recently served as General Manager, Sony Music Entertainment, Austria. Since taking the helm of Sony's Austria company in 2002, he has played a key role in revitalizing operations there, rebuilding the artist roster and increasing profits. From 1993 to 2001, he served as an A&R consultant and prior to that Marketing Director for EMI Records, Austria and Germany, where a number of bands he signed reached Gold and Platinum sales status. Prior to that he was a product manager for Warner Music Austria. He began his career in the audio retail business. Mr. Unterholzner serves as a board member of the Austrian IFPI.
