New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Rapper MC Breed is set to make a posthumous return to the charts with the release of "I Can Give It 2 U" featuring Bootleg of the Dayton Family and Payroll of Doughboyz Cashout, the first single since his untimely death in 2008. A staple on the Rap and Hip Hop Charts, Breed left a legion of fans hungering for more of his signature raps like "Ain't No
Future in Yo Frontin" (#66 Billboard Hot 100) and "Gotta Get Mine," featuring 2Pac which climbed to #6 on the Hot Rap Singles Chart. The single is set to drop on November 18th, marking the 6th anniversary of Breed's passing. The CD will be available digitally as well as a physical CD available at all the usual outlets and https://www.groundwerkmusic.com.
MC Breed, the first commercially successful rapper to hail from the Midwest in the early 90s, paved the way for rappers such as Eminem, Esham and Tech N9ne, and was the first rapper from the mid-west to break into national and international markets. His highest charting album, "Funkafied" (#106, Bilboard Top 200), features
George Clinton on two tracks and production by Warren G. and Colin Wolfe (of
Bell Biv Devoe fame). He also was a featured artist on
George Clinton's 1993 hit "Paint The White House Black."
From the 1992 release of his solo debut entitled, "20 Below," Breed would continue to, with each subsequent release, expose Midwest hip hop to a growing worldwide audience. He would go on to have a very extensive career and garner an impressive discography. A gifted songwriter and lyricist, Breed famously collaborated with various West Coast rap stars including Too Short, Warren G and the late Tupac Shakur. Breed's first single, "Ain't No
Future In Yo Frontin'" featuring East Coast derived crisp drums and West Coast blazing synthesizers was his biggest hit, quickly going gold and staying on the Billboard Top 50 for more than 6 months, longer than any hip hop record up to that point. At the time of his death, Breed was readying a new album and biographical DVD for release.
"I Can Give It 2 U" will be released on Paypa Boi South Entertainment, and distributed by 101 Distribution. The single is the result of a collaboration between long-time friend Russell Colvin, Jr., aka Kawtion (Tech 9, Esham, Insane Clown Posse) and Erica Breed, the rappers daughter. Explains Colvin, "Erica reached out to me through Facebook. Erica has been great to work with and this project came together after a very real and productive conversation. We both wanted to make sure that Breed's name and brand don't just fade away." "Colvin continues, "a short time later I was in a club in Flint and they played "I Gotta Get Mine" and the crowd went crazy. I was happy to see that Breeds' fans, both old and new, were very happy to hear his voice again."
