CLEVELAND, OH. (Case Western Reserve University/ www.case.edu) - The Race at Case continues as students from Case Western Reserve University host Sean "P. Diddy" Combs's nonpartisan national get-out-the-vote campaign.
Combs will take the stage to encourage students cast ballots from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, in the oval outside the Kelvin Smith Library, 11055 Euclid Ave. on the Case campus. He will be available to speak to media at 10:45 a.m. inside the library.
Mary J. Blige and Leonardo DiCaprio also are expected to appear at the rally, which has no partisan political purpose, just a community service message.
"The young people in this country hold the power to decide what's best for their future," Combs said. "We are going to remind them of that mighty power they possess and make sure the young men and women across this country turn out in force on Election Day."
In addition to sharing in music, food and fun, students can learn about polling places locations and sign up for free shuttle service to vote. The event is supported by the university's Undergraduate Student Government and University Program Board.
Combs's visit to Case comes on the heels of the university's Race at Case celebration around the vice presidential debate, which took place at the university on October 5. The university has sponsored a national student debate, forums on a number of political issues and voter registration drives throughout the presidential campaign.
The rally at Case is one of six stops in a campaign effort by Citizen Change, an organization created to educate, motivate and empower young Americans across the country, to urge young voters to head to the polls and vote on Tuesday, Nov. 2. The organization, led by Combs, will cross the country from October 26 through October 28, holding massive rallies in Milwaukee, Detroit, Philadelphia, Jacksonville and Miami, in addition to Cleveland.
"When you vote, you put your life and those of your family and friends in someone else's hands," Combs said. "People have sacrificed their lives for us to have this right, so we're going to hit the streets over this final week to let people know that on November 2, they have a clear choice: vote or die."
