Leah Speckhard To Premiere New EP Sleepwalker At Bowery Electric On February 23, 2015
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) An artist who celebrates what it's like to come of age in today's increasingly global community, Leah Speckhard will bring her evolving musical style to Manhattan and play a gig highlighting new music off her upcoming EP Sleepwalker at rock and roll bar Bowery Electric at 8pm on the 23rd of February. Previously signed to Greek major label Legend Records, Speckhard released the album Pour Out Your Heart Like Water, which received positive press in both People Magazine and Athens' largest newspaper, Proto Thema. Her songs, which attempt to decipher and emote the complicated nature of romantic relationships, are inspired by a diverse array of artists and genres, from Marina and the Diamonds and La Roux to 60s Motown music.

Having recently moved to Brooklyn and played gigs showcasing her emerging talent at such Manhattan hotspots as Pianos and Bowery Electric, currently Speckhard is focusing on expanding her pop credentials to include both hip-hop and house influences, and is set to release her new EP, Sleepwalker, in early 2015.

Speckhard has always been driven to explore philosophical and moral issues in her songwriting, and link them to love. She notes, "Break-ups and relationship pain trigger all this existential angst for people - I realized that when I sit down to write a song, I'm really trying to understand the world around me and make some sense of it." The evolution from folksy ballads to stronger beats and house rhythms happened naturally as she soaked up various European influences, and realized she wanted the passion and anger in her lyrics reflected in stronger beats and bass lines.

Gig-goers should look forward to hearing these emotive and transformative inspirations in a live setting that has been graced by many up-and-coming musicians who have made New York their home. Be certain not to miss the chance to hear Speckhard's poignant and ambitious music before her EP release, and head to Bowery Electric at 8pm on the 23rd.
