LONDON, UK (AP)Bad boy rappers and Eminem proteges D12 have recorded a track with animated supergroup Gorillaz, dotmusic can exclusively reveal.

The Detroit rappers visited the London studio last week, to lay-down vocals on the track, which is still unnamed and unfinished.
A spokeswoman for Gorillaz this afternoon confirmed the story, commenting: "D12 did pay a visit to Kong Studios last week. What happens next is anyone's guess."

The recording will further enhance the credibility of a band that started out as the brainchild of Blur frontman Damon Albarn , 'Tank Girl' creator Jamie Hewlett and hip-hop supremo Dan the Automator.

A source told dotmusic of the recording: "Damon was quite nervous beforehand, but it turned out brilliantly."

It is understood that the unlikely collaboration, which unites Proof, Bizarre, Kon Artis, Swift and Kuniva with Murdoch, 2D, Noodle and Russel, came about when D12 name-checked Gorillaz as one of their favourite groups in a recent interview.

Gorillaz representatives then contacted the rappers' US management company, who arranged the hook-up.

D12 were able to lay down their vocals last week after they were delayed in London following the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington DC. They held a minute's silence at the end of their gig at London's Astoria as a mark of respect for those killed in the attacks on the World Trade Centre and Pentagon.
The two chart-topping acts are set to collaborate further next year, when, as exclusively revealed on dotmusic last month, they tour together in the US and Europe.

It is unclear whether the track will appear as a single or as a track on the next Gorillaz or D12 albums.
