SPiN is ever reaching into their vast forest fire of influences and this EP is no exception. While their sound incorporates throwbacks to 80's and 90's alt rock, their unique style (ie: the band doesn't have a bassist, rounding out their bottom end with synths and piano) stays fresh and current. "Classic epic songwriting with a modern pop twist!" - Grammy-nominated producer/engineer Luke Tozour (P!nk, Katy Perry, Mika)
"My Hysteria" is a dark, eclectic 3-song EP, combining haunting piano balladry with power pop style guitar-driven melodies. The diverse range recalls the raw energy of The Black
Keys to the epic intensity of Muse.
AntiMusic.com raved: "edgy overtones layering over thoughtful, subtle melodic progressions."
Who hasn't felt like they are going crazy at one time or another? "My Hysteria" explores this terriroty showcasing SPiN's darker side, while still presenting a powerful force behind sensual vocals and raw emotion. "Am I the only one who thinks this way? Is it me that's f*cked up, or the world around me?", singer Eric Rothenheber says of the thought process behind the EP.
"So we kinda wrote this Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type story about that struggle. The rest of the EP was built around that empty place inside."
"getting hard just to make it through the day; I'm not ok - not a soul in this whole world to confide; so I hide" ~ My Hysteria
"True DIY power pop that should turn some heads. If not, you're not listening properly." - Alan Cross (A Journey
of Musical Things)
