LOS ANGELES (AP) - Friday Nights at the Getty continues its lineup of eclectic artists this fall, presenting an array of music including innovative Afro-Latino, rollicking Cajun, classic folk, a Delta blues tribute to Mississippi John Hurt, and an evening celebrating the work of renowned dance choreographer David Rouss�ve. Friday Nights at the Getty events begin at 7:30 p.m. and are held in the Harold M. Williams Auditorium at 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles.

The Friday Nights at the Getty series is free, but performance reservations are required and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations can be made by calling 310-440-7300 or visiting the Getty Web site at www.getty.edu. Up to four tickets may be requested. Reservations are honored up to 15 minutes before show time. Seating is general admission and early arrival is highly recommended. Parking is $5 per car.

The fall Friday Nights at the Getty lineup is as follows: On October 5, the series opens with the Afro-Latino rhythms of the John Santos and Omar Sosa Trio. On October 12, the Savoy Family Cajun Band takes the stage with tunes from the bayou, and on October 19, the legendary Richard Thompson offers Part II of One Thousand Years of Popular Music (due to popular advance demand, reservations for this performance are no longer available). On November 2, veteran singer/songwriter Loudon Wainwright III demonstrates his biting but brilliant brand of music. On November 16, the focus switches to dance with the L.A. premiere of The Ten-Year Chat. This solo evening of movement and spoken word is performed by choreographer David Rouss�ve and celebrates a decade of his work. On December 7 is the not-to-be-missed Avalon Blues: A Tribute to the Music of Mississippi John Hurt featuring Peter Case and Dave Alvin performing selections from Case�s album honoring Hurt�s musical legacy.

The Getty is now open on both Friday and Saturday nights until 9 p.m. No parking reservations are required. The Friday Nights at the Getty series provides a perfect opportunity to explore the Museum�s art galleries, dine indoors or outside, and enjoy the spectacular hilltop views of L.A. at night. Friday, October 5, 7:30 p.m. John Santos and Omar Sosa Trio � The San Francisco-based percussionist John Santos, pianist Omar Sosa, and bassist Geoff Brennan create innovative Afro-Latino music inspired by Cuban folklore, straight-ahead jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary music. Santos, leader of the Machete Ensemble, is acclaimed for his mastery of traditional and new musical forms. Known for his unorthodox technique, Sosa is among today�s most imaginative Cuban pianists. Bassist Brennan has recorded with such jazz stalwarts as Chico Freeman, Don Cherry, and Irene Carra. Produced by Community Arts Resources (CARS).

The Savoy Family Cajun Band � Ann and Marc Savoy and their sons play honed-down, hard-core Cajun music, peppered with humorous anecdotes about life on the Louisiana prairies. Produced by CARS.

Richard Thompson�s One Thousand Years of Popular Music Part II � Legendary singer/songwriter and guitarist Richard Thompson, returns to the Getty in a solo engagement to continue his extraordinary and comprehensive exploration of the world of popular music. Produced by CARS.

Loudon Wainwright III � Hailed as "one of the greatest lyricists of the age," veteran singer/songwriter Loudon Wainwright III performs songs from his brand new CD release Last Man on Earth, his first for the esteemed Red House Records label. The album release coincides with Wainwright�s debut in a featured role on the new Fox TV series Undeclared.

The Ten Year Chat: A Solo Evening with David Rouss�ve � New York/L.A. dancer/choreographer/writer David Rouss�ve celebrates a decade of his work with this L.A. premiere that won a 2000 Horton Award as a work in progress. In a range of solos incorporating movement and spoken word, Rouss�ve fuses early, recent, and new work that explores issues of race, gender, and AIDS.

Friday, December 7, 7:30 p.m.

Avalon Blues: A Tribute to the Music of Mississippi John Hurt � Peter Case and Dave Alvin perform selections from Case�s Avalon Blues recording which honors Hurt�s musical legacy. This is a special tribute to the man, who for many generations of musicians, opened the door to the wonders of the Delta blues and old-time American music. Produced by CARS.

Special Event: Saturday, November 17, 6 to 9 p.m.

An Evening of Diversions - inspired by the Devices of Wonder exhibition � The Getty hosts a special night designed to highlight the phenomenal technological advancements of the century beginning in 1901. From cinema�s first frames to a Magic Lantern Show to sounds on cylinders, this festival-like event offers an array of fun and intriguing activities. No reservations required. Held in the Getty MuseumCourtyard, Entrance Hall, and Lecture Hall.

October is National Arts and Humanities Month.
