New York, NY (Top40 Charts) I interview tons of folks and this woman is certifiably out there. Out there in a really, really cool way. She is the most entertaining humoristic soul blues rock presenter on the planet. I don't know sometimes I just get the feeling that God touches us all in different ways and this woman is touched, no touched is not the correct word, insane is closer but not on the mark either. Allow me to digress:
Cassie J Fox is a refreshing, entertaining radio personality on an otherwise rather bland sea of choices these days. She revitalizes the creative on air persona of yesteryears top forty jocks and adds a raging good time through her list of original character personalities. These insane, comical true to life characters are so spot on that you cannot tell which ones are contrived and which ones are real. My favorite skits are her call in sessions while shes on the air but
Cassie also does call ins to other radio show hosts and they are really humorous as well. Oh man too funny and I do mean too funny as she uses just enough off center remarks to be funny but never caustic. For example theres the lady (one of Cassie's personalities) who said that her husband needed a wheel chair because they were so cold last night that they had to burn his wooden leg to keep warm. Then theres the lady that went fishing who tells
Cassie that all she came back with was a red snapper. Oh and theres the lady that called her about finding Jesus. She calls more than once....
I should note that Cassies presence on the radio brings more to a radio audience than just a Samuel L.
Clemens or Will Rogers kind of a presence through inventive characters.
Cassie also spins blended genre music. The kind that could be described as soul meets blues. The music format is a blues/soul delivery such as what you hear from the likes of Soul-Blues artists such as: Mel Waiters, Johnnie Taylor, Marvin Sease,
Bobby Blue Bland, O.V. Wright,
William Bell, The Staple Singers, Ann Peebles, Eddie Hinton, Johnny Rawls, Roy Roberts, Billy Price, Benny Turner, Trudy Lynn,
Francine Reed, Shirley Brown, and Etta" I suppose this partial list of fantastic artists helps explain Cassie's on air slogan: "You're On a Funky
Internet Trail Ride, Thru The Juke Joints Of your Mind".
Like most folks that got into radio
Cassie fantasized over being on the airwaves.
Cassie shares, My Dad and Cousin had a Skating rink, I was young at the time. My Mom taught my brother & I how to skate. I would also stand and study the juke box and I became obsessed with it. I remember asking Dad questions about a small PA system that he had let me talk on one night, I was thrilled to say the least. At home I recall using a beginner mic that was plugged into my small guitar amp and then I would intro songs as the stack of 45's dropped down on the family console stereo. Plus I was always a record buyer with small weekly allowance. I used to sit at a local convenience store and read Rolling Stone Magazine and Guitar Player mainly for the album/single reviews of rock stars, soul, and R&B artists. Stars that were fascinating to me. Being from a small town those were my best options to learn about Billboard Magazine and how songs had to chart on R&R & Billboard before they became hits. Soon
Cassie would become interested in having fun on the air and so she went to school to learn about the radio industry. Then over time after a couple of mediocre jobs at a station she went on the air running a seven to midnight shift. Afterward she made a move to the morning shift and learned to ad lib some of the call ins on her show. Today, her radio show, Soul of the Blues with
Cassie C J Fox is in syndication and my guess is that tons of modern streaming stations are going to pick this show up.
Cassie talks in between the tracks (that top forty feel) and this where her show persona comes into play. Humor can give a radio show energy and Cassie's contrived call in characters never fail to grab audience attention. In fact going beyond the show itself these characters are so interesting that one of her radio characters will soon be available in a spin off mode, the timing is set for the upcoming Christmas buying season. The characters name is Blewzelle and she is loosely based on Cassies Grandma. A rather feisty independent soul, a bit shall we say opinionated but lovable as all get out. You can't help but love their conversations.
On the personal side
Cassie J Fox's home life includes her precious kitty cat and husband. She has a heart bigger than all outdoors and for some reason God decided to give this incredibly talented woman a bigger sense of humor than most of us might ever muster up. This I am glad to share is to our advantage. Tune in and hear what I mean, bring tissues your eyes are gonna water, guaranteed!
