
CANNES, France (MIDEM Website) - MIDEM 2005, The World's
Music Market (Cannes, France, 23-27 January), will once again include MIDEM Classique and Jazz, a complete programme of events, concerts and conferences dedicated to the classical and jazz music sector.
MIDEM Classique and Jazz is the only targeted event of its kind and brings together hundreds of classical and jazz music industry professionals, including artists, producers, agents, distributors, editors and artistic directors.
At the heart of the MIDEM Classique and Jazz 2005 schedule, will be a series of live concerts which offer MIDEM participants the chance to enjoy world-renowned artists and numerous possibilities to discover new emerging talent. The concert highlights include :
* The International Revelation of the Year, MIDEM Special Prize
January 23 : Three emerging artists will perform at the International Revelation of the Year concert. The MIDEM Special Prize is co-organised by L'Association Europ?enne des Agents Artistiques and Les Victoires de la Musique and accompanied by the Orchestre R?gional de Cannes Provence-Alpes-Ctte d'Azur, conducted by
Philippe Bender.
* MIDEM and "The International Jazz Festivals Organization" Jazz Club
January 23/24/25 : MIDEM and IJFO present a special "Young Talent Night" the "25th Anniversary of the Jazz ? Vienne Festival" and a special "Baltic States Jazz Session." Each event will be preceded by jazz showcases presented by different specialised labels.
* The MIDEM Classical Awards
January 24 : The launch of the first ever MIDEM Classical Awards. The international accolades will recognise the best classical recordings and artists for the year 2004.
* Festival of Independent Labels
January 24/25/26 : Presented by MIDEM and France's Fonds pour la Cr?ation Musicale (FCM), in association with the French music rights association, Soci?t? des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Editeurs de Musique (SACEM). The third edition of the Festival of Independent Labels will feature a series of one-hour concerts presented by five independent labels.
* Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir
January 24 : The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, conducted by Paul Hillier, will celebrate the renowned composer, Arvo Pdrt's birthday, in an exceptional performance of the composer's works.
* Kremerata Baltica and Gidon Kremer
January 25 : A special performance by the most prestigious ensemble from the Baltic States : Kremerata Baltica, conducted by Gidon Kremer.
* Les Victoires de la Musique Classique
January 26 : These prestigious French Awards will take place for the second time at MIDEM. The Awards' show will be broadcast live on French national TV channel, France 3 and French national radio, France Inter.
* IMZ Screenings
Austrian, International
Music & Media Centre (IMZ), is a world-wide non-profit association of leading producers specialising in cultural/musical programmes. More than 300 new classical, jazz, world and traditional music programmes will be screened to buyers from over 50 TV channels as well as producers and distributors from a total of 21 countries.

* Presentation of a first study "The Consumer of Classical CDs in France"
January 23 : In association with the European School of Management (ESCP-EAP), Classica-R?pertoire and French label Abeille Musique.
* Award - International Confederation of
Music Publishers / Conf?d?ration Internationale des Editeurs (ICMP/CIEM)
January 24 : An international journalist specialised in classical music will receive the award.
