New York, NY (Top40 Charts) LOCZIdesign has partnered with
Heavy Projects, Props2c, CULT | Aimee Friberg Exhibitions and Keyframe-Entertainment to bring San Francisco Design Week visitors an augmented reality immersive installation exploring San Francisco's shifting landscape and this year's theme: Question Everything. Occupying Pier 27's lobby, this interactive exhibit expands the view of the city by the bay, from beatniks to technocrats, and paves the way for this year's San Francisco Design Week. The week kicks off with the opening night reception on June 14th and runs through June 22nd. Tickets to June 14th San Francisco Design Week's Opening Night can be purchased here.
SF Design Week celebrates Bay Area design and the communities, people and issues shaping and leading the way we experience and understand various disciplines of design. The event includes more than 60 studio tours and 200 events throughout the week, and features world-renowned designers, entrepreneurs and innovative thought leaders.
Preceding Design Week, LOCZIdesign, in collaboration with Keyframe-Entertainment, is hosting FUNdraiser - a funding event to realize the augmented reality art installation. This dynamic FUNdraiser will take place on May 13th at LOCZIdesign studios at 175 De Haro Street.
"Please join us to celebrate the many things that make this city great, get an exclusive look at what we're designing for SFDW's Opening Reception at Pier 27 in June, meet the artists and contribute to help realize this venture," says LOCZIdesign founder Paige Loczi.
In line with LOCZIdesign's vision of transporting participants through a visual and sonic experience, the FUNdraiser will feature electronic music and a range of dynamic collaborators. Event contributors include artist Can Buyukberber; Props2c, a custom styrofoam designs and rentals company; and CULT | Aimee Friberg Exhibitions artist Rhonda Holberton.
Holberton's work explores the ways technology reshapes the relationship between humans and our physical world through a variety of media. Her two projected works The Ground Was Never Stable in the First Place, and The Best of Both Worlds (Rhythm is a Dancer) utilize 3D elements such as Microsoft Kinect scans of her body and source files from library of 3D files used for gaming design to navigate the slippery planes between the finitude of biology and the interminable capacity of visualization. The event will also feature a film clip showing of Can Buyukberber's Morphogenesis. The artwork title references the biological process that causes an organism to develop its shape. Can Buyukberber is a visual artist whose immersive audiovisual experiences embody both physical and digital spaces.
The evening will feature Tech House music courtesy of DJ Kuze, Downtempo by Mystik, Bass House by Vitamindevo, and Techno by Emanate. Trained as a classical pianist, DJ Kuze plays various genres such as Tech House, Techno and Drum&Bass. He has several upcoming shows in Spain, which includes gigs at Annua in Cantabria, and June 17 at Barcelona's SonĂ¡r
Music Festival. MYSTIK is the electronic production project and DJ persona of recording artist
Peter Loomis, who has been producing and performing all-original dance tracks and remixes since 2000. A resident DJ at Monarch in San Francisco, Bass House & Techno DJ Vitamindevo has opened at the San Francisco Warfield for
Knife Party, and was an Insomniac Discovery Project winner in 2012. Emanate is Techno-Tech House duo Emily & Nate. Since 2010 they've released music as Emanate and individually, and their Mioli
Music label has signed various international artists. Past milestones include the release of their debut album "Alliance", and domestic and international touring with festival bookings at California's Northern Nights, Mexico's BPM, Bulgaria's Mountains in the Meadows and performances in Berlin.
There will be wine pouring by Bluxome Street Winery, a SOMA-based, All-American winery. Its focus is on palate-friendly and age-worthy Pinot Noir and what they call the distinct Bluxome Sauvignon Blanc. All the fruit for their wines are sourced from cool climate regions within 100 miles of San Francisco.
