LOS ANGELES (AP) - Mariah Carey's "Loverboy," the first single from her Virgin Records debut album, the Glitter soundtrack, has been certified gold (500,000 units sold in the U.S.) by the Recording Industry Association Of America. The track peaked at Number Two on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending July 27. " Loverboy" is Carey's 18th gold single, and her 16th as a solo artist. The second single from Glitter is " Don't Stop" featuring rapper Mystikal. The music video for the track was shot by director Sanaa Hamri in the swamps of New Orleans. AP asked a record-label spokesperson if Carey was still planning to reschedule her sit-down interview with Barbara Walters on ABC's 20/20. The spokesperson said that the Walters interview had not been rescheduled as of Thursday (October 4), adding, "I'm sure she's going to do it, but right now we're concentrating on the music video." The interview was originally scheduled for September 12, but was postponed after the singer cited a need for more rest following her hospitalization. Glitter entered the Billboard 200 album chart at Number Six, marking Carey's eighth consecutive top-10 album debut, and her first top-10 album since signing a record-breaking contract with Virgin Music Group. The soundtrack is currently at Number 21 on the Billboard 200 after three weeks.
