September 21, a reunited
Orbital (Brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll) will perform new music and classic cuts in the US for the first time in five years, at the inaugural Electronic
Music Awards, live from downtown Los Angeles on Twitter. The performance follows a successful UK run of impressive performances at the WAM Festival in Spain, Forbidden Fruit in Dublin, Supersonic in Japan, the Brussels Summer Festival, and the Bluedot plus Standing
Calling festivals in the UK. Additionally, the duo announced December 2017 dates at both London Hammersmith Apollo and Manchester Apollo which sold out in less than 24 hours upon announcement.
According to Orbital, "We're so excited to be coming back to the USA . We love it there and have missed it over the past five years . It was an Essential part of our
Orbital lives in the past and we can't wait to make it our present again. The EMAs are long over due and we're proud to be part of this innaugural event".
The duo's new single, Copenhagen, which has been playlisted by BBC 6 Music, is streaming now. Orbital's performance at the EMAs, personally requested by Executive Producer
Paul Oakenfold himself, will be the duo's first live show in the US in five years with a new album on the horizon.
Orbital has been hailed as creators of classic electronic symphonies and timeless dancefloor bangers, as originators of must-see live dance music experiences over their 25-year career. The new live show has been described by both The Guardian and Q Magazine as "Among the greatest gigs of all time'. Paul, says, of what to expect: "We have "warped and changed" the classic
Orbital sound so that faithful fans will get something familiar but new, freshened up for a new phase." Phil wants to "get the bounce back, make it really beefy." Paul adds: "We are hitting our stride again and looking forward to really getting down to writing and recording once the festival season is over. The EMAs, hosted by Billboard Dance's Matt Medved and with on-air talent, radio host, DJ and producer
Hannah Rad, will feature 11 awards acknowledging underground and commercial artists, creatives, executives, and industry visionaries. The EMAs will celebrate 30 years of dance music history through 12 performing DJs and live acts, including Orbital, Autograf, Floorplan Live, Goldfish, Illenium, Kidnap Kid, Madeaux, Moby (DJ set), Ramzoid. Detroit Dock, a unique outdoor space, with a DJ booth situated on a loading dock. The new additions include,
