New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Beyoncé performed for throngs of screaming fans Saturday night at Coachella after a year's wait. "Y'all ready Coachella?," she asked the crowd as she opened her set with "Crazy in Love," becoming the first woman of color to headline the music festival in Indio, California.
Excited fans had a new nickname for this year's festival: Beychella!
After postponing last year's performance due to her pregnancy,
Queen Bey slayed with a spectacular 105-minute set, complete with a marching band, outfit changes, and fireworks. Backed by an army of 100 dancers and band members, she kicked off the homecoming-themed performance with a pep rally. After entering in a regal Balmain ensemble, 'Yoncé changed into a yellow hoodie and denim cutoff shorts.
As the first African-American female headliner,
Queen Bey thrilled festivalgoers with a cameo from JAY-Z ("Déjà Vu") before reuniting with her
Destiny's Child groupmates. Dressed in matching outfits,
Kelly Rowland and
Michelle Williams hit the stage for a trio of hits including "Lose My Breath," "Say My Name," and "Soldier." Even
Solange popped up for a "
Get Me Bodied" dance off.
Following fan favorites like "Single Ladies," 'Yoncé delivered a heartwarming speech to her fans at home and in Indio, Calif. "I just wanna say thank you guys. I'm so happy that I'm here," she said. I was supposed to perform at Coachella before but I ended up getting pregnant, thank God, and I had time to dream and dream and dream with two beautiful souls in my belly. I dreamt up this performance. This is everything and more than I dreamt of it being. Thank for sharing this with me." If you missed it, watch the epic Beychella performance below:
