The Latin Recording Academy Elects New Officers To Its Board Of Trustees
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Latin Recording Academy announced today the new elected officers to its Board of Trustees. Eduardo Hütt, Chairman of Bain & Company in Mexico and Central America, was elected Chair of the Board of Trustees; Eva Cebrián, communications professional from Spain, was elected Vice Chair; Aloysio Reis, songwriter and general director of Sony/ATV Music Publishing in Brazil, was elected Secretary; and Javier Aguirre, personal advisor to the CEO of the Cisneros Corporation, was elected Treasurer after a unanimous resolution reached by the organization's Board of Trustees. Outgoing chair of the board Laura Tesoriero was elected Chair Emeritus replacing maestro Luis Cobos.

"As The Latin Recording Academy prepares for the beginning of its third decade, a new Board of Trustees is challenged with continuing our mission of promoting Latin music internationally, but also preserving iconic genres in the evolving music community while providing financial and logistical support to the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation®," said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. "I look forward to working closely with this very diverse and talented group of professionals while advancing the development and outreach of The Latin Recording Academy and the Latin GRAMMY® brand."

The Trustees of The Latin Recording Academy, along with Latin Academy senior staff—fiduciaries of the nonprofit organization—meet twice per year to discuss goals, set priorities, and implement policies designed to strategically chart the course of The Latin Academy's short, medium, and long-term goals.

About the Newly Elected Officers:

Eduardo Hütt, Chairman of Bain & Company in Mexico and Central America, has more than 25 years of experience in management consulting in the region focusing on media and entertainment. Before joining Bain, Hütt was a senior partner at McKinsey & Company; president and managing director of EMI Music Argentina; and has had direct experience in the music markets of Latin America.

Eva Cebrián has had a long career as an executive in various sectors, primarily in communications and music (including musical, audio-visual, and digital projects). Her experience in music placed her as a leader of Spain's premier group of radio stations, PRISA Radio, which includes Cadena Dial, Máxima FM, M80 Radio, and Radiolé, in addition to the premier musical portal Los40.com. She is currently starting up a new business venture.

Aloysio Reis is a prolific songwriter and a seasoned record executive. He has been the general director of Sony/ATV Music Publishing in Brazil since 2005 and is a member of the board of directors of the Brazilian Union of Songwriters, the largest songwriters' association in Brazil. Prior to that role, he worked at CBS/Sony Music and EMI Music in Brazil, Mexico, and England. As a songwriter, Reis' songs have been recorded by top artists such as Roberto Carlos, Julio Iglesias, Ney Matogrosso, Flávio Venturini, Xuxa, Gloria Estefan, José Luis Perales, Juan Luis Guerra, and many more.

Javier Aguirre is currently the personal advisor to the CEO of Cisneros Corporation. He provides strategic advice on financial and corporate matters. Mr. Aguirre served, for a period of 15 years, as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Cisneros Corporation where his primary responsibilities included overseeing and managing the corporate finance and family office functions, as well as the management of the investment portfolio. He was an active member of the investment committee and served as a board member and advisor for numerous investments, many of which were entertainment properties, in the Cisneros portfolio such as Univision, Venevision Productions, Venemusic, DirecTV, AOL Latin America, and many others.

In addition to the above-mentioned officers, the complete Board of Trustees of The Latin Recording Academy includes: Christine Albert, Carlos Alvarez, Luis A. Alvarez, Luis Balaguer, Eduardo Bergallo, Paty Cantú, Carla Estrada, Alexandra Lioutikoff, John Poppo, Neil Portnow, Rafa Sardina, Manuel Tejada, and Eduardo Weise. Legal counsel: Jorge Hernández Toraño.

The Latin Recording Academy is an international, membership-based organization comprised of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking recording artists, musicians, songwriters, producers, and other creative and technical recording professionals. The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life and cultural condition for Latin music and its makers. In addition to producing the Latin GRAMMY Awards® to honor excellence in the recorded arts and sciences, The Latin Recording Academy provides educational and outreach programs for the Latin music community either directly or through its Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation.
