New York, NY (Top40 Charts) ANTI- Records released Doe Paoro's "soulful, melodic" (Stereogum) new album 'Soft Power,'which was produced by Grammy Award-winner Jimmy Hogarth (Sia, Corinne Bailey Rae). Comprised of songs co-written by Paoro (aka Sonia Kreitzer) with Dan Nigro, Justin Raisen, and Matt Hales, 'Soft Power' is the artist's most assured and authentic body of work to date.
"I wanted to make an entire album that could be recreated live because for me, that's where the deeper connection takes place," explains Paoro, who recorded the album with a crack team of London-based musicians that have played with Adele, Brian Eno, and Sia. "One of my intentions was to drop any questions about what might be inventive, and just focus on writing songs that felt true to my experience. The idea was to push things forward just by creating something well-made and authentic."
'Soft Power' has earned accolades from EARMILK, Ones to Watch, and LA Record, who praised the album's eclectic style and powerful vocals. Stereogum wrote that one of Paoro's latest tracks "recalls the rosy-tinted sound of '60s girl groups like the Shirelles [and] the vintage sound of Rihanna's 'Love On The Brain'" as well as the work of Amy Winehouse, and highlighted the "smoky vocals and piano-driven balladry."
Doe Paoro will embark on a headlining tour in support of 'Soft Power' this fall, including a stop at Brooklyn's Rough Trade and a hometown show at LA's Lodge Room. Full tour routing below.
