LOS ANGELES (Omerta Entertaiment) - After being shot, stuck in a deal not to his liking and stifled by comparisons to an unforgettable, legendary icon, rapper/lyricist Tha Realest (Jevon Jones) is out the gate large and strong, with the vision, talent for collaboration and supreme confidence of an NBA point guard running a fast break with Witness Tha Realest, his debut release on Omerta Entertainment/Tommy Boy. Tha Realest is one of the most versatile, controversial and engaging artists to emerge from the West coast in the last ten years. His highly anticipated, grimy solo debut; Witness Tha Realest is an 18 track masterpiece of compelling ghetto tales and hip hop magic.

Originally signed to Death Row Records nee Tha Row, Tha Realest debuted on the platinum Gang Related soundtrack in 1997, on two songs with J-Flexx under the name Tenkamenin. By 1999 he had changed his name to Tha Realest and continued to pay his dues at Death Row. After being shot outside a recording studio in October 1999 Tha Realest soon recovered from his bullet wounds and didn't allow the shooting to cause him to lose focus, despite the tragic murder of security guard Dwayne "Draws" Dupree who was also shot that night. Some rappers seek notoriety by carrying a gun. It's a whole different story to be shot by one. Tha Realest more than knows the difference. Which is why his talent is naturally flavored, with no artificial additives.

"They say: 'good things come to those who wait,' the position I was in at Death Row wasn't right for me. I didn't always get the due credit I believe I deserved and I finally got out of that deal. I put so many songs on Witness Tha Realest because so many people have been waiting so long for my CD to drop. You won't have to fast forward through any of the songs on the CD. You're gonna' have to give me an hour and ten minutes of your time when you listen to this CD. I'm not about to give you only three songs worth listening to. $15 is lunch money for a lot of kids. With Witness Tha Realest, I'm a holla at you. I'm going to give you something that you can knock for a while man ... value for your dollar is long overdue in today's music market," Tha Realest says.

Tha Realest is on a singular quest to reestablish west coast supremacy with Witness Tha Realest. His considerable talent and dedicated, hard earned fan base alone would seem enough to guarantee success for this project. But Tha Realest left nothing to chance on this impressive debut by insuring the street credibility and commercial success of this banging joint with a hand picked, all star lineup of guest artists that are featured on the CD. Hard hitting tracks featuring the ghetto fabulous vocal genius of the likes of Aaron Hall, Dub C, Fat Joe, Ritchie Rich, B-Legit, Dru Down, Napoleon (from the Outlawz), Devin Tha Dude and Jay Valentine flow on 10 of the 18 tracks, as well as contributions from C-Bo, Swoop G, Val Young and "Kola Locc," (formerly of Doggy's Angels).

I call myself Tha Realest, and I kick phat rhymes pertaining to what's happening today. In a confusing world full of bullsh*t, fakers, wannabes, trapdoors, pitfalls and dead-ends, the shortest distance between two points is still a straight line, even if the line is a tightrope 50 feet high, with no net. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained ... sh*t, don't look down. That's the definition of the real. Don't look down, keep your head up, look people in the eye and always do your thing, regardless," Tha Realest says.

From block to block and city to city, Oakcliff, Texas (an inner city ghetto hood of Dallas) native Tha Realest's freshman project on Omerta Entertainment/Tommy Boy: Witness Tha Realest is on the way. With a drop date of July 12, the newly released first single: Sumthin Like A Pimp, establishes Tha Realest as a major talent with its heavy bottom, creative arrangement and raw emotion. Devin Tha Dude and Dru Down are featured on this track with Tha Realest as he flows and pops ... defiantly defining his game.

Omerta is a Sicilian word associated with the Mafia, meaning: code of silence. And for those who have grown weary of the syncopated constipation posing as original rhymes recited by over hyped rappers and the sour nothings mumbled by marble mouthed emcees ... Omerta Entertainment's release of Tha Realest's Witness Tha Realest, breaks the silence of an artist with something to say, as he bears witness to the new, a hot musical stew, right on cue.
