Bicurious - I Don't Do Drugs, I Just Sweat A Lot
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Following a premiere with Irish music bible Hot Press Magazine, Dublin-based experimental rock duo BICURIOUS are pleased to announce they will release their new single 'I Don't Do Drugs, I Just Sweat a Lot' on 6th March 2019, one year after the release of their debut EP I'm So Confused.

In support of the new material the band will be touring throughout the UK and Ireland in February and March 2019, with a special single release show planned in their home town of Dublin on 8th March 2019 at The Workman's Club.

Today, the band are pleased to present the official video for the new single, which was directed, filmed and edited by Matteo Casalegno, and produced by Alessandro Vinci c/o Narrow Door, Matteo Casalegno, and Bicurious.

"'I Don't Do Drugs…' is about this fictional character's inability to understand the music he finds himself listening to, to a point where he almost loses his mind," says guitarist Taran Plouzané of the song. "We just wanted to capture the confusion that someone would experience if they had never heard anything like one of our songs before. It's fun to imagine them freaking out."

Bicurious are Gavin Purcell and Taran Plouzané: a sonically-demented, loud, instrumental experimental two-piece from Dublin, Ireland and Brest, France. Formed in September 2016, they have now played gigs all over Ireland and France, with plans to tour even more in 2019, at home and abroad.

Recording guitar loops live, they build huge soundscapes, ranging from math-rock inspired riffs to jazzy chord progressions. While Bicurious' songs can often feature samples of political speakers aiming to highlight injustices and crises in Ireland-including sexual abuse by members of the clergy, or the housing and mental health crises faced by young people-occasional appearances from guests such as Samuel L. Jackson and Donald Trump are not unheard of either, all facilitated by Purcell's drum sample pad; the unofficial third member of the band.

The pair's breakthrough moment came last year when their irrepressible single 'Sleep'-taken from 2018 debut EP I'm So Confused-burst its way onto several Spotify playlists and became an overnight sensation, garnering 1.5 million plays to date.

For their new material, the Dublin-based instrumental rock duo flew their long-time collaborator Liverpudlian producer Tom Peters (Alpha Male Tea Party) to Ireland, and together they headed to Analogue Catalogue studios, Newry in December 2018. Both songs from the session will be self-released over the coming months, and were executively produced by Narrow Door.

Renowned for their intense live shows crammed with mosh pits, head-banging, riff sing-a-longs, and sometimes even a helping of vegan cake, they have quickly built a loyal fanbase in Dublin and Ireland as a whole—a proven commodity that saw the band's début EP released with crowd-funded backing, and a packed-out fundraiser gig in Sin É, Dublin. The band have also performed at several festivals to date, including Electric Picnic (2017) and Hard Working Class Heroes (2018).
