Detroit's Detroit Opera House on February 23

Amanda Palmer
Amanda Palmer is a singer, songwriter, playwright, pianist, author, director, blogger and ukulele enthusiast who simultaneously embraces and explodes traditional frameworks of music, theatre and art. She first came to prominence as one half of the Boston-based punk cabaret duo The Dresden Dolls, earning global applause for their inventive song craft and wide-ranging theatricality. Her solo career has proven equally brave and boundless, featuring such groundbreaking works as the fan-funded Theatre Is Evil, which made a top 10 debut on the SoundScan/Billboard 200 upon its release in 2012 and remains the top-funded original music project on Kickstarter. In 2013, she presented "The Art of Asking" at the annual TED conference, which has since been viewed over 20 million times worldwide. The following year saw Palmer expand her philosophy into The New York Times best-selling memoir and manual, The Art of Asking: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Let People Help. Since 2015, Palmer has used the patronage subscription crowd funding platform Patreon to fund the creation of her artwork.

This has enabled her to collaborate with artists all over the world with over 14,000 patrons supporting her creations each month. Palmer will release her new solo piano album and accompanying book of photographs and essays, There Will Be No Intermission, on March 8, followed by a global tour. Recorded in late 2018 with Grammy-winning Theatre Is Evilproducer/engineer John Congleton at the helm, the album is a masterwork that includes life, death, abortion and miscarriage among its tent pole themes.

Lord Huron
Originally a musical and visual solo project by Michigan-native-turned-Angeleno Ben Schneider (singer, songwriter and producer), Lord Huron now includes members Mark Barry (percussion), Miguel Briseño (bass) and Tom Renaud (guitar). After a pair of independent EPs, Lord Huron released two full-length albums, Lonesome Dreams (2012) and Strange Trails (2015) on IAMSOUND Records, followed by the release of their latest album Vide Noir (2018) on Whispering Pines/Republic Records. Vide Noir continues to receive widespread critical praise-NPR Music calls it "Cinematic," while SPIN adds, "Vide Noiradds touches of garage-rock distortion to a narrative of love and fortune found, inspired by classic pulp fiction writers like Raymond Chandler and illuminated by a mysterious emerald glow. It's the spookiest entry yet in a growing catalog of the atmospheric, the melodic and the arcane." After appearing in the hit Netflix show 13 Reasons Why the band's song "The Night We Met" (from Strange Trails) was officially certified Platinum in January 2018.

Mike Yard
Mike Yard is a stand-up comedian and performer in Brooklyn. He was a contributor on Comedy Central's The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore and hosts the podcast Yard Talk with Mike Yard. He first performed on Live from Here as a guest in the second season and now joins the show regularly as part of the acting company.

Minneapolis' State Theatre on March 2

Broken Social Scene
Broken Social Scene are an alternative rock collective. Originally founded by Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning at the tail end of the 90s they formed the Broken family with members of Metric, Do Make Say Think and Stars as well as Grammy-nominated Feist. They are one of the most enduring and influential indie groups to come out of the early-aughts. Their debut You Forgot It In People largely defined the "indie rock" era coming out of Canada. Across five albums, the band have two gold records, have sold over a million records worldwide, have 8 JUNO Award nominations with 3 wins and 2 Polaris Music Prize shortlist nominations.
2018 saw Broken Social Scene touring their most recent JUNO Award nominated full length release, Hug Of Thunder and 2019 kicks off with Let's Try The After Vol. 1 EP. In a statement, bandleader Kevin Drew said of the project, "The point is to keep going. We have more to give." Catch them on the road this year.

Vijay Iyer Trio
By overwhelming consensus, the Vijay Iyer Trio, which features Jeremy Dutton on drums and Nick Dunston on bass, has become one of the pivotal jazz bands of the twenty-first century. Described as "the best piano trio in jazz today" (Der Spiegel), "the great new jazz piano trio" (The New York Times), "truly astonishing" (NPR) and "the best band in jazz" (PopMatters), the trio makes "cutting-edge music, but always accessible" (The Guardian)- emotionally resonant and deeply interactive, radiating groove and brimming with polyrhythmic detail, rooted in tradition yet truly innovative in style and form. The Trio'sBreak Stuff (2015), "the third and best record by Mr. Iyer's trio" (The New York Times) and Iyer's twentieth release as a leader, was produced by Manfred Eicher for ECM, receiving a coveted five stars in DownBeat Magazine, with the German newspaper Die Zeit raving, "This record is very, very, very good...as astonishing as it is intoxicating."

Vijay Iyer has been voted DownBeat Magazine's Artist of the Year four times-in 2018, 2016, 2015 and 2012-and Artist of the Year in Jazz Times' Critics' and Readers' Polls for 2017. Iyer was named a 2017 United States Artists Fellow, a 2013 MacArthur Fellow and a 2012 Doris Duke Performing Artist. He holds a lifetime appointment as the Franklin D. and Florence Rosenblatt Professor of the Arts at Harvard University, with a joint affiliation with the Department of Music and the Department of African and African American Studies.

St. Paul's Fitzgerald Theater on March 16

Jon Batiste
Born into a long lineage of Louisiana musicians, Jon Batiste is a globally celebrated musician, educator, bandleader and television personality whose musical skill, artistic vision and exuberant charisma has made him a triple threat and the newly "crowned prince of jazz." Jon is recognized for his originality, jaw-dropping talent and dapper sense of style. Jon effortlessly transitions from commanding the piano with virtuosic skill to soulfully crooning to wailing on the "harmonaboard" (a hybrid of a harmonica and keyboard) to curating unique "social music" experiences all over the world, whether solo or with his band Stay Human. Jon also recently received GRAMMY and NAACP Image Award nominations for his debut solo album Hollywood Africans.

Dallas' Winspear Opera House on April 6

Esperanza Spalding
Esperanza Spalding is typically referred to as a bassist, vocalist and composer. However like most organisms growing in response to their environment, Esperanza is emerging into something she does not yet understand, nor is able to clarify through reference or language.
Some of the primary cells directing this emergent artistic organism could be named: poetry, magic, staging, theater, opera, sound-spells, improvisation, movement, dance, bio-geometry, reiki, nothing, bad-art, fake-art, listening, smells, dream-talk, dialogue, demonic therapy, cat-tongue.
