New York, NY (Top40 Charts) South Florida JAZZ presents in concert the highly acclaimed mallet player STEFON HARRIS. The incredible, vibraphonist brings his quintet, BLACKOUT, to South Florida for the first time.

South Florida JAZZ, the area's premier jazz organization, continues its 27th season of presentation, and the second season of "South Florida JAZZ at Bailey Hall," with the highly acclaimed mallet player STEFON HARRIS. The incredible, vibraphonist brings his quintet, BLACKOUT, to South Florida for the first time.

Bailey Hall is located on the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus at 3501 SW Davie Rd. in Davie and offers free parking. Tickets are available by visiting southfloridajazz.org or baileyhall.org or contacting the Bailey Hall box office at (954) 201-6884. The box office and phone lines are open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m.; Saturday from 7:00 p.m. until curtain time. All performances commence at 8:00 p.m.

Passionate artistry and astonishing virtuosity have propelled the Albany, New York native mallet player, Stefon Harris, to the forefront of the invigorated jazz scene. Following his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Manhattan School of Music, he has been heralded as one of the most important artists in jazz. In addition to his four Grammy ® nominations, he also is the recipient of the prestigious Martin E. Segal Award from Lincoln Center and has been named "Best Mallet Player" by DownBeat Magazine and the Jazz Journalists Association. He also has fared extremely well in other polls that have been dominated reflexively for so long by now-retired Gary Burton.

Stefon's talent has propelled him around the world for concerts and festivals. A particularly important collaboration with David Sanchez and Christian Scott took him to Havana and the subsequent recording 90 Miles. Now with his pet project, Blackout, we hear Sonic Creed, the newest album that has been percolating in the souls of Stefon and bandmates for more than 14 years. It is impressive.
