"I feel lucky to have been exposed to such great music as a child — especially in an era where women dominated and recorded songs that impacted every age and gender," explains Lay. "I think 'Walkaway Joe' is a reminder of that prime era and it stands the test of time. So I was humbled to put my spin on it, knowing no one could ever beat Trisha's original version."

Last year, Lay toured with Kenny Chesney and released a series of singles including "Yada, Yada, Yada" and "Speaker, Bleachers and Preachers." Taste of Country in reviewing "Speakers, Bleachers and Preaches" touted "Lay's understated delivery is an open-ended invitation to fall for this country singalong. Light electric guitar licks aid a heavy rhythm section in filling out this mostly-acoustic cut. The Jackson, Tenn., native will very quickly establish a sound all his own."

Starting Friday, Amazon Music listeners can find the track on "Country Heat," the ultimate global playlist for today's country music fan. Customers can also simply ask, "Alexa play the Amazon Original by Brandon Lay" in the Amazon Music app for iOS and Android and on Alexa-enabled devices. In addition to the new track, Amazon Music listeners can access hundreds of Amazon Originals featuring both emerging and established artists across numerous genres, available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.
