NYC's Indie Rock Band Charlie Sub & Sound Dogs Release EP 'The Bronx Is Burning'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Charlie Sub & Sound Dogs deliver their debut EP today, The Bronx Is Burning. Blending 70's inspired rock n' roll with a modern twist, the group provides a compelling and dynamic debut. Showcasing their range of sonic elements, the band provides a blend of gritty, raw energy and tasteful, harmonic-rich melodies across four standout tracks. Glide Magazine premiered the release earlier this week saying, "Fans of classic rock will find plenty to dig with this release as the band melds the bar band rock and roll of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band with more elements of punk, soul, blues and Americana layered in throughout."

Heavily inspired by an iconic time of rock & roll history, Charlie Sub & Sound Dogs incorporate elements of jazz, blues, and soul over their indie-rock core. The Bronx Is Burning provides an insight into vocalist Charlie Sub's life and experiences of living in NYC. "Each track tells a story about my life in New York at different times. Growing up, breaking up, having my daughter, starting a career... it is a strange and warped chronology, but very typical of a stressed out New Yorker!" laughed Sub.

"Sometimes the songs just tell you when they need to be released!" shared Sub. "As with many things in life, it's just timing - whether it is physically making the time to record, or just feeling comfortable enough with the band and the material to put it out there. Recording is definitely not a science, nor a democracy, or honestly a whole lot of fun. It is hard work, long hours, and can be repetitive. You have to trust your bandmates and the production team and even the deli guy at the bodega around the corner, to all get the job done!"

While Sub leads with timeless, growly vocals and writes all the songs, the seven-piece band wouldn't be the same without the skills and energy of the rest of the Sound Dogs: bass guitarist Pat Branch, keyboardist Richie Brotman, vocalist Genevieve Faivre, saxophonist Pete Esser, guitarist David Newman, and drummer Gandhi Gonzalez. Each member plays an integral part of delivering the harmonic-rich, hook-laden melodies and dynamic performance, both on record and in live performances.

"When The Sound Dogs came into the studio, I was immediately intrigued by the diversity in the group," noted engineer Michael Abiuso (Kiss Kiss, The Venetia Fair, The Gay Blades) of Behind the Curtains Media. "Everything from musicianship, influences, style, personality and even age. I had a blast incorporating the creative energy of this crew and watching their ideas sonically develop into completed tracks of The Bronx Is Burning." Abiuso engineered, mixed and mastered the release, and co-produced with Ryan Brahms.

Much of Charlie Sub & Sound Dogs inspiration and sound can be directed back to Sub's youth, when his family owned the famous Queens nightclub, The Coventry. The venue provided a start for many soon-to-be legendary acts, including Kiss, The Ramones, The New York Dolls, and other revolutionary bands that brought rock n' roll, glam, and punk onto the NYC scene. Sub worked for his father at the venue, with the music and experiences being profound influences for his musical identity and inspiration. Charlie Sub currently owns Ethyl's Alcohol & Food in Manhattan's Upper East Side. A lounge, restaurant, and occasional performance space, the 2nd Avenue location is a regular spot for the Sound Dogs to perform, providing a home of 70's retro-inspiration, go-go girls, and unique NYC energy. The band recently released a music video, shot at Ethyl's, for their title track "The Bronx Is Burning", watch on their website here, or on Facebook.

The Bronx Is Burning is available now on Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music and all major digital retailers. Averaging three shows a month across the city, Charlie Sub & Sound Dogs keep audiences coming back for more, as they deliver a slew of original tunes and good times. With their first studio release out now, they invite new fans to join the pack.
