Lewis Capaldi Releases Debut Album 'Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The 22-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi released his debut album - Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent - on Capitol Records. The album includes his breakout single, "Someone You Loved," which has shattered records throughout Europe and just ended a nearly unprecedented seven straight week run at #1 on the U.K. charts. The song recently re-entered the Spotify Global Top 50 hitting #18 and is now charting in over 25 countries. "Someone You Loved" has also re-entered Spotify's Today's Top Hits playlist, where it ended a 19-week run in late February and is now in the Top 5. Capaldi has become a Top 250 artist on the platform with 500 million combined plays and nearly 12 million listeners across only nine tracks to date.

"Someone You Loved" also ranks in the Top 200 in over 70 countries on Apple Music and in over 100 territories on Shazam. The official video - which stars Scottish actor Peter Capaldi, who portrayed the Twelfth Doctor in the iconic British television show "Dr. Who" and is a distant cousin of Lewis - has amassed over 20 million views.

Cumulative global streams of all Capaldi's songs are approaching 800 million. His new track, "Hold Me While You Wait" racked up over one million global streams on Spotify in the first 24 hours following its release.

TIME declares, "Lewis Capaldi has the kind of deep, textured voice that you could listen to for hours. He finds expressive rough edges, then smooths them out into the sweetest of notes…Capaldi's talent is tugging at heartstrings - or rather, pulling at them with all his vocal might." Billboard says, "Lewis Capaldi is an artist 'You Should Know'. He has captivated listeners with his soulful voice…and has had a meteoric rise since his single "Bruises" went viral." Idolator raves, "It's only a matter of time before 'Someone You Loved' wreaks havoc on the Billboard Hot 100, but breakout star Lewis Capaldi has kindly rolled out a new track while we wait. 'Hold Me While You Wait' is another emotional sucker punch…Given the quality of 'Someone You Loved' and 'Hold Me While You Wait' (not to mention previously released singles 'Bruises' and 'Grace'), Lewis' gloriously-titled Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent is shaping up to be one hell of a debut LP."

Recorded over an 18-month period in London, New York and Los Angeles, Capaldi co-wrote each of the album's 12 songs, working with Malay who also produced, (Frank Ocean, Sam Smith Lorde) Jamie Hartman (Calvin Harris, Rag N Bone Man) and TMS (Niall Horan, Maroon 5, Little Mix). Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent is an ironically titled, but charismatically defining album that's lyrically candid and a realistic snapshot of the ups and downs of growing up. Capaldi's stunningly identifiable voice, coupled with its turbulent themes of love, loss and heartache, make it a debut album that is unequivocally relatable. A CD box set featuring colored vinyl with metallic cover, sunglasses and calendar is now available exclusively at https://lewiscapaldi.lnk.to/webstore

Capaldi recently announced his second North American tour of 2019. Kicking off with a trio of shows in Texas, the headline run will also include concerts at First Avenue in Minneapolis (October 3), Brooklyn Steel in New York (October 11) and the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC (October 12). See below for itinerary. The fall outing will find Capaldi playing larger venues than those he will visit on his summer run, which had already sold out, prompting him to upgrade venues in Seattle and Portland, both due to phenomenal demand. His March 2020 tour of the UK and Ireland recently sold out in mere seconds, making him the first artist in history to sell out arenas prior to the release of a debut album. He will perform for upwards of 100,000 people on the run, which includes a show at the SSE Arena Wembley in London and two nights at 3Arena in Dublin. He will also tour with both Ed Sheeran and The Killers in the UK this summer.

Capaldi was hailed as a 2018 Vevo DSCVR Artist To Watch, longlisted for the BBC Sound Of 2018 Poll, and won Breakthrough Artist of the Year honors at the Scottish Music Awards. He has toured with Rag'n'Bone Man, Niall Horan, and Sam Smith, and performed at such festivals as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Firefly, Mountain Jam, Splendour in the Grass, Fuji, and Osheaga. Capaldi was recently nominated for the BRIT Awards Critics' Choice award and named an MTV UK PUSH Ones To Watch artist.
