Delbert McClinton Unveils "Gone To Mexico" From Tall, Dark, And Handsome (July 26)
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Delbert McClinton has released "Gone To Mexico," the second single from his new album Tall, Dark, and Handsome out July 26 (Hot Shot Records/Thirty Tigers). Bluegrass Situation premiered the song this morning, listen here: https://thebluegrasssituation.com/read/listen-delbert-mcclinton-and-self-made-men-dana-gone-to-mexico/

"Gone To Mexico," written by Delbert, originally appeared on his son Clay McClinton's 2010 record Livin' Out Loud. Now, Delbert has put his own spin on it, including a booming horn section that he says "just makes it explode."

Tall, Dark & Handsome is a joyous celebration of Delbert's roots in Texas blues. Rolling Stone Country included the first single - "If I Hock My Guitar" - in their Best Country Songs List, calling it a "short, sly and swaggering, mixing a strut-worthy groove with plenty of fretwork fireworks." Every song on the album is a new original, written or co-written by Delbert.

Delbert is a 3x Grammy winner (with 7 nominations total). His work inspired The Blues Brothers, and his songs have been covered by Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Waylon Jennings, Wynonna Judd - to name a few. His early career saw some remarkable interactions - touring the U.K. in 1963 on the success of Bruce Channel's song "Hey Baby" led to a weekend with John Lennon. His early Texas band The Straightjackets backed musicians like Bo Diddley, Jimmy Reed and Muddy Waters when they came through the Dallas area.

The "Godfather of Americana" (Rolling Stone) will tour through 2019 including a hometown album release show on July 26 at City Winery in Nashville. See below for dates. Pre-order the album here: https://orcd.co/talldarkandhandsome
