Rachael Sage Album "Myopia" Wins Two Independent Music Awards
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) MPress Records artist Rachael Sage's self-produced, full-length album Myopia was the winner of two Independent Music Awards on Saturday, June 22nd at the 17th annual awards ceremony held at Lincoln Center in NYC. Sage, along with her longtime engineer and two-time Grammy® Nominee John Shyloski, won "Best Producer" in the pop album genre, while her original artwork was chosen as "Best Music Promo Poster" in the design category. Stream "Myopia" on your favorite platform and check out the colorful poster art that Sage designed.

Sage, a multi-instrumentalist who plays piano and guitar, got an early start self-producing her own demos at twelve years old when her relatives gave her a 4-track tape recorder for her Bat Mitzvah. She founded her own NYC-based record label MPress Records over two decades ago and has self-released more than 20 recordings including full length albums and EPs. In addition, she has executive produced projects for other artists on MPress including Grammy®-nominated and Billboard-charting artists Seth Glier and Melissa Ferrick.

"Myopia" was recorded both at Carriage House Studios in Stamford, CT. and at Sage's home studio in NYC. Sonically, it was a bold departure for Sage with a much stronger emphasis on her guitar playing over her usual piano palette. Mixed by Grammy® Winner Andy Zulla, "Myopia" features inventive contributions by Hoboken-based guitarist James Mastro and her longtime band The Sequins. Other guests include drummer Doug Yowell (Joe Jackson, Duncan Sheik), keyboardist Rob Curto (Lila Downes), trumpeter Russ Johnson (Elvis Costello, Deborah Harry), and bassist Mike Visceglia (Suzanne Vega). The album topped many year-end lists, spawned three eclectic videos, and included a re-recorded version of the perpetual fan favorite and #MeToo feminist anthem, "Sistersong (2018)". Originally inspired by alt-folk icon Ani DiFranco, the track has currently spent over six consecutive weeks on the Top 40 radio charts.

This year, Sage released "PseudoMyopia", an acoustic companion album to Myopia, and is headed to the UK this summer for various festivals and a headlining club tour. Full show routing can be found via her website.

Sage is also a visual artist whose work has been shown in NYC galleries. She's known for her unique drawing style, densely colorful paintings and glittery, fabric-painted wearable art (which often doubles as stage-wear for her performances).

"...an entrancing collection of songs…unlike anything out there in this moment in time." - Songwriter Magazine
