East London Trio Mohit Share New Single 'Reggaeezer'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) East London art rock, progressive, avant-garde trio MOHIT are delighted to share the B-side to their latest single 'Yoghurt / Reggaeezer' released Friday 26th July.

The band has also revealed a run of UK headline tour dates, joined by Leeds Psych-rock band KOYO, throughout September and October 2019 (see below for listings) with plans for further dates to be announced in the coming weeks.

Commenting on 'Reggaeezer' the band said: "The song is a snapshot of an impromptu jam at our rehearsal space in Whitechapel. We were joined by Marky Mark; a local homeless man who went on to imbue the music with a deeper meaning. His lyric, "Stand alone, on my own" speaks of his life on the streets, and the melody manifests his courageous optimism".

The lyrics in the first half of the song introduce this event, accompanied by a calypso groove and ethereal harmonies which nod to the old version of the song. This part weaves itself into a more expansive and melancholic section where Marky takes centre stage.

Produced by Marta Salogni (Björk, YAK, Holly Herndon, Methyl Ethel, Liars), mastered by Heba Kadry, and cut to lacquer by Matt Colton, the single is available on heavyweight black vinyl and is strictly limited to just 250 copies.

This follows on from the band's debut 7" 'Racek / Discover Another' released at the end of 2018 which garnered support from the likes of BBC 6Music, Amazing Radio, The 405, Louder Than War, Circuit Sweet, Gigsoup, Pirate Studios, White Heat White Noise, Hard of Hearing, Frontview Magazine, and more.

2018 also saw MOHIT enjoy a packed in-store performance at Rough Trade East as well as popular tour dates alongside Wooden Shjips, The Murlocs, Omni, Nothing, Yonatan Gat, Vaadat Charigim, The Parrots. and Canada's hotly-tipped export Ought. The band will continue their live action with a series of dates in the coming months and more dates to be announced in due course.

MOHIT have been recording new material with producer Marta Salogni (Björk, YAK, Holly Herndon, Methyl Ethel, Liars) at Strongroom Studios and Mute Records. They released the first taste - Racek and Discover Another - at the end of 2018.

The follow-up is Yoghurt - the seed that began the sonic journey that led to the sound and shape of MOHIT. It was the first recorded song, the very spark. Many of the avenues explored in other songs are present in this piece; the use of loops, beat-lead sections, evocative harmonies and sonic landscapes, stretching to the most intense moments. The process of making the song conduced each member's connected input and their sensitivities to it, resulting in a path through unfamiliar grounds for the listener to navigate.

The B-side to this second instalment is Reggaeezer. The song is a snapshot of an impromptu jam at the band's Whitechapel dwelling when they were joined by Marky Mark; a local homeless man who went on to imbue the music with a deeper meaning. His lyric, "Stand alone, on my own" speaks of his life on the streets, and the melody manifests his courageous optimism. The lyrics in the first half of the song introduce this event, accompanied by a calypso groove and ethereal harmonies which nod to the old version of the song. This part weaves itself into a more expansive and melancholic section where Marky takes centre stage.

The live show is heavier and more energetic than the record, with alternative
intros/outros interluding between songs. Set-lists are inherently a different space for the music to inhabit, and so there is a heavy focus on curating a narrative backdrop behind the songs. Allowing the songs to continue to live, breathe, and move in their own ways; MOHIT respect their wishes when performing, and therefore song-structure may change depending on the show.
