New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Devon Gilfillian released his new single, "Even Though It Hurts". Written with Tobias Jesso Jr. (Sia, Adele, Shawn Mendes), the emotional track is from Gilfillian's forthcoming debut album, which was produced by GRAMMY winner Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Kacey Musgraves, The War On Drugs).
In the coming months, Gilfillian will be touring with St. Paul & the Broken Bones, Local Natives, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and Michael Franti & Spearhead. See full tour itinerary and ticket information HERE. Gilfillian spent the summer playing festivals - including Newport Folk and Montreal Jazz - and supporting Michael McDonald, Chaka Kahn and
Lauren Daigle.
"Even Though It Hurts" is the follow-up to "Get Out And Get It", which is in the top 15 on Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs chart. Rolling Stone said, "the guitar-slinging soul singer flips into his upper register and channels funk icons like Curtis Mayfield and Prince, with some Afrobeat polyrhythms thrown in for good measure." NPR observed, "'Get Out and Get It' has a heavy dose of infectious and captivating energy, and will move you with a spirit of optimism and empowerment."
Disney recently tapped Gilfillian for the "True Original Summer of Music," a musical extension of the "Mickey True Original Campaign," in celebration of Mickey Mouse's 90 years of impact on pop culture. Gilfillian's performance in front of a select crowd of musicians, influencers and entertainment industry insiders at Levi's Haus of Strauss in West Hollywood earlier this month kicked off the musical celebration.
After growing up outside Philadelphia, Gilfillian moved to Nashville to pursue music full-time. In 2016, he released his debut EP, which NPR
Music said, "captures his exuberance and musical openness, setting the stage for what promises to be a brilliant career." His 2018 single "
Troublemaker" was heard during 2018 NFL Draft programming/advertising. He was featured in the Frye Americana
Roots campaign and named as a Southwest Airlines "Artist on the Rise."
