Her album Echo of a Heartbeat was met with rave reviews from the Jazz press and charted on The JazzWeek Charts at #50 and wasplayed on over a 100 radio stations around the world.
Dave Rogers of WTJU spoke of Tamuz Nissim's third release Echo of a Heartbeat… "and it is a gem! She has a beautiful voice,outstanding control, she can scat with the best of any era and on top of that, she tosses in some knock out vocalese that would put the icing on any cake!"
In 2017, she released Liquid Melodies with guitarist
George Nazos where they presented a combination of jazz standards and "Originals that are so smart they can bend light." (C Michael Bailey, All About Jazz). Their record got extensive airplay worldwide, reaching #57in the Jazz Week charts, and was also received with warm reviews from the Jazz press. The band was also chosen to open for Hugh Masekela at the Atlanta Jazz Festival.

Dream featured her original compositions and was presented to radio stations worldwide and at several well respected festivals such as the Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival and Tinos Jazz Festival. Her performances won warm reactions from the audience and the press, described Tamuz as a "very charismatic artist"(BHMagazino), "a voice that caresses your soul" and "a proof that jazz is a living art and that stars are still being born"(Athens Digital). "An extremely gifted jazz singer that is bringing in her debut album a lot of freshness." (ThirdEar, Israel). Her composition "Broken Promises" has been featured in the Greek Jazz & jazz magazine CD compilation Summer jazz Flirt.
Born in Tel Aviv, Tamuz grew up in an artistic family; her mother is a dancer and a choreographer, and her father is a writer. Both play an instrument and have a great love for classical and jazz music. At the age of 15 she was a recipient of the America-Israel Cultura lFoundation Grant for young talents in the arts. By the age of 16 she was performing around the city regularly with some of Israel's best jazz players to accompany her.
She moved to the Netherlands in 2007 to study at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Den Haag; from there she received a Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts. In Holland she performed at many prestigious Jazz clubs and performed at the Amsterdam Israeli film Festival "Film is real" 2011. Her composition 'Shir' was featured in the Record "Love, Live, Listen 2 - The Hague playlist." In 2013, she performed at Holon Women's Festival in Israel, a project with singer Martha Mavroidi. In 2015, she was chosen as a finalist at "Riga Jazz Stage international vocal competition" and won, and then went onto perform at "Riga Ritmis" International Jazz Festival in 2016.
In 2015, Nissim moved to New York City where she performs as a band leader and a guest singer and lyricist for live shows and studio recordings with several NY mainstays. Nissim's continued journey as a New York artist is illustrated best on her latest offering Capturing Clouds, an amalgamation of an equal number of originals by the singer and arrangements of jazz standards/ popular songs. The band once again features veteran bassist Harvie S (who also helped produce the album), drummer Tony Jefferson and guitarist
George Nazos.
The two standards on the record "On The Sunny Side Of The Street" and "Like Someone In Love" were recorded in a "Chord-less trio" format - vocal, bass and drums, in a complete spontaneous approach while at the studio with one take to capture some of the excitement and joy of the recording session. The arrangement of "Saturday Sun" and "Here Comes the Sun" is illuminated by guitarist
George Nazos. The Two have performed "
Here Comes The Sun" once without knowing that
Olivia Harrison was in the audience. She was deeply touched by their version. The title song "Capturing Clouds," is musically influenced by Ahmad Jamal's record "
Marseille" and has a steady rhythmic poem of 4-5-6-6 syllables a line in every A section and 5-6-5-6 in every B section.
On every record so far, Nissim has shown her love of writing and singing vocalese. "Fried Bananas," "Groovin' High" and "
Smile" on her previous records, and Parker's "Chaisin' The Bird" have illustrated her ability to craft meaningful ideas. On this record, she wrote vocals to John Coltrane's solo over "I Hear a Rhapsody" from the record Lush Life.
