NEW YORK (Soneros Records) - Soneros All Stars are set to release a new album featuring world famous Cuban stars from Buena Vista Social Club, Los Van Van, Sierra Maestra, Elio Revé Jr, Isaac Delgado and Cubanismo. Musicians and artists from Cubas most successful bands perform fresh material on the album: 'Soneros All Stars - 'Dime Nagüe!' (no: SASCD041). Release; 01-08-2005.

The driving force and relentless spirit behind this project is guitarist/tresplayer and producer Janne Bogdan of Stockholm. He has brought together the cream of Havana's foremost musicians on an album crammed with fresh new timba deeply rooted in soncubano and changüí, genres that have had a profound influence on the modern music and dance traditions of Latin America. This is an album that sounds urban without ever loosing touch with the rural atmosphere that constitutes the very essence of the soul of Guantánamo.

Characteristic for the album, a part from its strong folkloristic roots, is the singing of Pascual Matos Aguirre, also known as 'El Sinsonte' due to his distinctive sound and extensive repertory. Sinsonte was raised in the province of Guantánamo, in the town of Moa, a three-hour journey from the mountain village of Yateras where the genre of changüí was born in the beginning of the 20th century. After being discovered in 1994 by the master of changüí, Elio Revé, he moved to Havana where he ended up working for ten years with Elio Revé y su charangón.

Janne Bogdan and Sinsonte first met in Stockholm in the fall of 2003. This marked the beginning of the collaboration eventually leading up to the recording of the album together in Cuba. After more than a year of planning in their respective countries they finally met up in Havana bringing the newly written music of several renowned Cuban songwriters arranged exclusively for the album 'Dime Nagüe'.

The material was carefully selected by Janne Bogdan who also wrote the track 'La tierra dónde naci' as a tribute to the changüí. He has aimed to make an album suited for the dance-floor but still in contact with its traditional roots. The lyrics are mainly about the rhythm of changüí, of dancing and of celebrating. The album follows in the footsteps of the master of changüí, Elio Revé, and in tribute of him the album finishes with 'A ti papá' in a wish to thank Elio for what he did for the folklore of Eastern Cuba.
The title 'Dime nagüe' is a local Guantánamo expression meaning roughly 'What's up man', an apt title as the lyrics are set in that same province.

The album was recorded by Soneros Records in studio 4 at the 'Instituto Cubano De Radio Y Television' in Vedado/Havanna/Cuba between Sep 28 and Oct 14 in 2004. Produced by Jan Miklos Bogdan. Mixing and mastering was done at LimeBeat Productions, Manhattan/New York City/U.S.A. by Mattias Murhagen.
