SPQR Announce No Brain, No Pain EP & Stream Lead Single 'Just Sumfin' Out Now
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) "Desperate, frantic and exhilarating in equal measure...stunning" - The Line of Best Fit
"SPQR elicit an immensely satisfying air of opaque claustrophobia" - The Quietus
"A striking fusion...uniquely personal songwriting" - Clash Magazine
"Big sounds and intelligent lyrics" - The Metro

Liverpool art-rock band SPQR are very pleased to announce they will release their third EP, No Brain, No Pain, on 30th April 2020 via all good digital service providers, with the record also available on vinyl via their own label, Nuthin Gud Records.

The news comes hot on the heels of their recent support tour with HMLTD, with the band set to support SHEAFS and play their own headline dates throughout February/March 2020, followed up by a clutch of festival appearances including Live At Leeds, Liverpool Sound City, and Hit The North already lined up.

Following on from 2019 lead single 'Nuthin Gud', new single 'Just Sumfin' is out now offering yet another thrilling perspective from the ever-changing, always experimental mind of the band's frontman and producer Peter Harrison.

Commenting on the single, Harrison said: "This track was simply a joy from start to finish. From this new thing of 'doing it ourselves' it may sound cliche, but I'm finally learning how to achieve the sounds I'm hearing in my head, and that feels good. When I first sent the demo to Jack and Bex they instantly liked it and that usually means I did something right for a change! It was never supposed to be a single but the more I worked on it and listened to it the more I thought 'yeah!'."

"Lyrically the song takes you through a few things that swirl around in my head. Mostly guilt, longing, desperation and uncertainty. Normal things. This is also the first SPQR song without distorted guitars. Thank f*ck. Don't need them. It's all about finding new ways to get things across, cos life's boring and you have to make it interesting yourself. Initially it had me playing piano throughout, but we quickly realised that it sounded sh*t so changed it to a repetitive 'sample' kind of sound, and now it's great. Enjoy, cos there's more where this came from!"

Produced by the band, and mixed by Alex Quinn (She Drew The Gun, The Blinders), forthcoming four track No Brain, No Pain is the trio's most ambitious work to date and charts the constantly evolving and broadening songwriting of one of Merseyside's most exciting creative prospects, recently selling out their latest back-to-back Liverpool headline residency shows at The Kazimier Stockroom in record time.

Previous singles picked up radio support from BBC Radio One (Daniel P Carter), BBC 6Music (Tom Robinson), Radio X (John Kennedy), Amazing Radio, Kerrang! Radio, and BBC Introducing, with press coverage at The Metro, The Line of Best Fit, The Quietus, DIY, CLASH Magazine, and streaming support from Spotify (Hot New Bands, The Punk List, All New Indie), Deezer, Vevo, and Amazon.

Known for their visceral and experimental new brand of art-rock, during their short tenure to date SPQR have already appeared at BBC 6music Fringe Festival, Future Yard, Off The Record, Liverpool Sound City, Dot To Dot, and Bluedot Festival. Alongside their festival appearances the band have supported METZ, Childcare, Mini Mansions, and Demob Happy, and toured the UK extensively.

Releasing two EPs to date, the band also scored a personal inclusion from Everything Everything on their 2019 Airplane Mode compilation with BBC radio DJ, Andy Backhouse.
