New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Brad Mehldau brought his Three Pieces After Bach program to the Philharmonie de Paris back in April 2018. As with his album After Bach, released on Nonesuch in March of that year, the solo program pairs pieces from J.S. Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier with Mehldau's own works inspired by Bach. The concert, which was broadcast live from the beautiful Jean Nouvel-designed hall via the European culture TV channel ARTE, is now being made available again as a series. The first segment, posted below on the 335th anniversary of Bach's birth, is the C# Major Prelude from Book I of the Well-Tempered Clavier and the first Rondo from Mehldau's After Bach.

"Here is wishing you all peace and well-being," says Mehldau. "I'm worried and sad for those who are suffering, and the worst part of that for me, and I think so many of us, is that we have to stay put. My family and I have been spending more time together than we ever have, and that in itself is a great thing.
These were part of a concert in the Paris Philharmonie ... Thanks to the good folks at Oleo Films, ARTE, and Mezzo, we are now able to re-release segments of the concert, and here is the first one, with more to follow from that concert. Stay healthy and well."
To pick up a copy of After Bach, head to iTunes, Amazon, and the Top40-Charts Store, where CD orders include a download of the complete album at checkout. You can also listen to After Bach on Spotify and Apple Music.
