We Are Scientists + Art Brut Announce Digital Release For 'Wasabi' Split
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Alcopop! Records are delighted to announce a long-awaited digital release from Art Brut and We Are Scientists, whose special WASABI (We Are Scientists Art Brut International) 12" split vinyl was originally released exclusively for Record Store Day 2019. Now, for the first time on all good digital service providers, WASABI will be released digitally on 18th April 2020 via Alcopop! Records.

To celebrate the news the two bands are streaming We Are Scientists' cover of Art Brut track 'I Hope You're Very Happy Together', taken from their 2018 return-to-form album Wham! Bang! Pow! Let's Rock Out!, which is out now on Alcopop! Records.

Commenting on the release, Eddie Argos of Art Brut said: "Our record label tried to make this Art Brut vs We Are Scientists, but it doesn't work like that. WASABI are a motherf*cking gang! It's a legendary team up! Crushing all other bands with our Traveling Wilburys covers and awesome songs. We're on the same side. Wasabi vs ALL OTHER BANDS!"

We Are Scientists added: "Releasing a package like this into the fray of the general music market would be like showing up in a tuxedo for your job as a fish-gutter down at the docks. Only the refined eye and careful ear of the Record Store Day customer is equal to the pleasures contained on this platter, which vary from punk, to dance, to classic rock — an incredible journey, one best offered to those who'll appreciate it."

Back in 2006 Art Brut and We Are Scientists recorded a split 7" together to celebrate a joint US tour, and in 2019, on the all-important errr...13th...anniversary of the release...the two indie juggernauts were back to do something even more awesome.

The tremendous 12" was a living example of just how much fun you can have with a record. Fronted with brand new previously unheard singles from both bands, the release also contained wonderfully rendered versions of the two bands reworking each other's material, a seriously sick Traveling Wilburys cover, and a few long-lost rarities that had never before seen the warming grooves of a delicious vinyl record. Plus, dare we say it, an irreverent RSD-themed anthem penned especially for the occasion.

With sleeve art designed by Art Brut man Eddie Argos himself, this is Art Brut and We Are Scientists at their very best.
