LOS ANGELES (AP) - Animated U.K. act Gorillaz are reportedly planning to follow-up their platinum self-titled debut with a soundtrack to their own movie.

Animator Jamie Hewlett, who draws the characters in the virtual group (made up of Blur's Damon Albarn, Dan "The Automator" Nakamura, and Del Tha Funky Homosapien, among others), told Q magazine the group will begin work on the project in the beginning of the new year.

A spokesperson for the group in the U.S. could not confirm the project, only to say there has been talk of a movie although nothing has been officially decided.

Meanwhile, Gorillaz grabbed three Billboard Music Video Awards last week for their much-lauded video for the single "Clint Eastwood," which took home nods as the Best New Artist Clip of the Year in both the Rap/Hip-Hop and Modern Rock categories as well as the Maximum Vision Award.

The group also leads all nominees at the 8th Annual MTV Europe Awards with six nods, including Best Group, Best Dance Act, and Best New Act. The show takes place in Frankfurt, Germany, on Thursday (Nov. 8).
