Kenny Rogers The Gambler (and Other Classics) Still Making Waves After 42 Years
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Kenny Rogers death at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic may have gone unnoticed by many of his fans, but his music surely doesn't go unnoticed.  Earlier in the year, his all-time favorite surged to Billboard's Digital Song Sales charts.

Interestingly, another collabo with Dolly Parton, 'Islands in the Stream' was also doing well. These two hits released in 197 and 1983 respectively made a nostalgic comeback after Kenny's death in March but are still doing well especially on country music charts.

'Gambler' saw 21,000 downloads in March making it Kenny Rogers' first No. 1 on the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart. It also became the oldest song ever to lead the list, which started running in 2004. Gambler passed classic hits like Prince and the Revolution's 1984 opus "Purple Rain," which surged in 2016 when Prince died.

Other Gambler Hits You Will Love

Whether you love Kenny Rogers rustic music or love a bit of music when rolling the dice at Borgata online casino, some hits never get old. Some of these golden oldies did not make a big mark, but they make good gambler music;

Viva Las Vegas by Elvis Presley (1970)

This song has attracted hundreds of cover songs and is a bit of a karaoke anthem for tourists in Sin City.  The song is a hit with people who have rolled dice as well.  It has feel-good lyrics and a carefree attitude that resonates with hedonists everywhere.

The song probably gave the world the phrase "Got a whole lot of money that's ready to burn."

Diamond Jack by Wishbone Ash (1977)

This tune will tickle your bone if you love a bit of dark humor. It was a Brit hit, and the Brits are known for their risk-it-all attitude at times. It was a hit with hardcore gamblers.  The lyrics can be a bit gambler heavy; the Ace of Spades is 'the dream of every man' while the diamond jack is the 'black magical lady luck.' It is a decent hit when you get over the casino jargon.

I'm Bad I'm Nationwide by Z.Z. Top (1979)

This was an aggressive up-yours track that can keep your adrenaline pumping. It is the tune you will need when your hopes are fading, and you need to get back into the game.

"With my New York brim and my gold tooth displayed,

Nobody give me trouble 'cause they know I got it made."

Aces of Spades by Motorhead (1980)

"You win some, lose some, it's all the same to me." It is a good tune to spur you on when hunting for the elusive Ace of Spades. The lyrics are good motivation for those moments when your risk-it-all spirit is flagging.  Here is more to keep you going, "I know you want to see me, read 'em and weep, the dead man's hand again."  It can take some time to get used to the lyrics, but this is a good tune when you get the hang of it.

Shape of My Heart by Sting (1993)

Sometimes you need a 'nothing to lose' attitude to get the motivation to sit at the poker table. It was a soundtrack for the hit action movie Leon The Professional starring Jean Reno and Natalie Portman. The lyrics are for the gambler who takes it all in his stride;

"He doesn't play for the money he wins,

 He don't play for respect,

 He deals the cards to find the answer."

That Was a Crazy Game of Poker by O.A.R. (1997)

You win some you lose some, but life goes on. A loss is not the end of life. There will be another day and another game. It is a song for those times when you are down on your luck;

"That was a crazy game of poker (That was a crazy game of poker)

I lost it all (I lost it all)

But someday I'll be back again

And I, never to fold. (Never to fold)"

If you love Kenny Roger's Gambler, you will love these tracks as well. They will be useful props when you go YOLO.
