NEW YORK (Atria Books/ www.simonsays.com) - Atria Books will publish the band INXS' first and only official autobiography, entitled INXS: STORY TO STORY, in fall 2005. In the book, INXS band members tell, for the first time, their own story about the meeting (and sometimes clashing) of minds that produced their music. The book will be co-written with Brooklyn native and former Rolling Stone writer and editor Anthony Bozza, who co-wrote Atria Books' New York Times bestselling book, Tommyland with Tommy Lee, and Whatever You Say I Am: The Life and Times of Eminem.
Atria controls world rights, which have so far been sold to the UK, Australia and Germany. Senior Editor Peter Borland made the acquisition for Atria; INXS was represented in negotiations by Richard Abate of International Creative Management.

Interest in the band INXS should be at an even greater level throughout the summer and fall due to the band's worldwide television series, Rock Star INXS, charting the band's search to find a charismatic man or woman to be the lead singer of INXS. The show airs in the US on the CBS Television Network.

In this gritty, behind-the-scenes, no-holds-barred book, INXS: STORY TO STORY reveals one of the most influential bands of the last two decades. For the first time the band will detail the truth about the rock and roll lifestyle-the sex and the drugs, the fun and the fights.

Band member Kirk Pengilly says, "A number of books have been written about us over the years, most of them in the wake of Michael's tragic death, but none of them has been authorized by us or is in any way reflective of our point of view." Pengilly adds, "This book is the band's history whilst Michael was alive, and the only one we have ever endorsed and been personally involved in.
It's our self-portrait and a true and honest account of our lives as INXS." Borland adds, "2005 marks the 25th Anniversary of the release of the first INXS album, and the band is still breaking new musical ground. In this book, they will finally reveal more of themselves, personally and musically, than ever before."

In 2005, Atria celebrates its third year as an imprint of Simon & Schuster. This summer and fall, Atria publishes other celebrity titles, such as Star Struck by Pamela Anderson, Driven from Within by Michael Jordan, Before I Got Here by Blair Underwood, Before You Put That On by "Today" show fashion editor Lloyd Boston, as well as an investigative account of Michael Jackson by Diane Dimond.
The imprint initially launched with Marlo Thomas's The Right Words at the Right Time, which became an instant New York Times number-one bestseller, and in April 2006 the imprint will also release the sequel to her book.

Atria Books is an imprint of Simon & Schuster, part of the entertainment operation of Viacom Inc.
