New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Revs were an indie rock band from Kilcar, County Donegal in Ireland. Three childhood friends; Rory Gallagher (A.K.A Rory & The Island), John McIntyre, and Michael O' Donnell make up the tight outfit formed on the eve of the 2000 millennium
One of the key years for the band was 2002 when they were nominated in both #BestRockBand and #BestNewcomer categories at the Meteor Music Awards. Though losing out to U2 in the #BestRockBand category, The Revs came away with #TheBestNewcomer award.
The Revs toured extensively performing at Reading Festival and Mainstages at Oxygen, Witness and Slane Festival as well as supporting The White Stripes, Snow Patrol, Muse and The Hives. The Revs were an independent band, and in an age without social media as we know it now, what they achieved was very impressive indeed. With 2 top 5 albums (SonicTonic and Suck) and a string of indie hit singles in Ireland, UK, Germany and Australia the band called it a day in 2006 following the release of their highly critically claimed self titled album.
The band remain friends and in 2018 performed a 10 year anniversary show to a SOLD OUT crowd at The Academy in Dublin. Due to the bands existence prior to the digital era all of their back-catalogue has remained on limited edition CDs, Vinyls and bootleg YouTube videos across the net until now when the back-catalogue is set to be re-released on the 16th December 2020 via LAB Recordings to all major digital retailers.
