New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Old Sea Brigade has returned with "Day By Day," a cathartic and unabashedly honest meditation on stagnation and loss delivered via enrapturing synth tones and a steadily growing intensity through its galvanizing final chorus. Employing a sound that "might be surprising for a so-called indie-folk artist, but one which fits the emotional tenor" (WNYC), Old Sea Brigade ventures far outside genre boxes to explore themes of impermanence, the inescapability of change, and how we pick up the pieces when it feels the most impossible. The new song comes with the announcement of Old Sea Brigade's Motivational Speaking - an upcoming full-length album from the Nashville-based and Georgia-born musician due out May 14 via Nettwerk.

"Although, thematically and lyrically it might sound like a lockdown-inspired track, I started writing 'Day by Day' while on tour in 2018," Old Sea Brigade tells Consequence of Sound. "Lyrically, I wanted to try and capture the restlessness of constantly being on the move. I often struggle with trying to balance excitement of new surroundings with exhaustion from lack of sleep. Through all of that though, I try to find little moments of inspiration where I can be present."

This new twelve song collection comes on the heels of a breakout run for Old Sea Brigade, who has been taken on the road by songwriting contemporaries like Julien Baker, Hiss Golden Messenger and John Paul White while garnering over 42 million Spotify streams for his original "Love Brought Weight." Most recently, he released a collaborative EP called All The Ways You Sing In The Dark with regular tourmate Luke Sital-Singh over quarantine, while continuing to expand and rework Motivational Speaking with longtime production partner Owen Lewis. Motivational Speaking will feature nine brand new original tracks in addition to "Day By Day" and the 2020 singles "How It Works" and "Caroline."

In addition to his solo work, Old Sea Brigade has also produced artists from around the world who stop by his Nashville home studio to collaborate - including Australians Angie McMahon and Lawson Hull, London's John Joseph Brill, Montreal's The Franklin Electric and rising talent from his local community like Angel Snow and Hardcastle. For Motivational Speaking, he is joined by a group of collaborators including bassist Eli Beaird [James Bay, Shawn Mendes], drummers Will Sayles [Norah Jones, Drew Holcomb] and Julian Dorio [Eagles of Death Metal, The Whigs], guitarist Kris Donegan [Third Eye Blind, Kelsea Ballerini] and Glenn Duncan [Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Mark Knopfler] on dobro, banjo, and bouzouki.
