Rhiannon Giddens Shares Video For "Si Dolce E'l Tormento," Announces Audible Original
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi perform the 17th century composition "Si Dolce è'l Tormento" by composer Claudio Monteverdi in a new video. The video was filmed by Laura Sheeran at Hellfire Studio in Dublin during the making of their new album, They're Calling Me Home, which features the song. You can watch it here:

Following the recent announcement of her four-book publishing deal with Candlewick Press, Giddens has now revealed details of an Audible Original, To Balance on Bridges, both of which continue to illustrate Giddens' artistic growth not only as a beloved musician but a storyteller, podcast host, composer of opera and ballet, actress and beyond.

The Audible Original will debut on July 22, as part of the Words + Music series, exclusively on Audible within the US. The 1.5 hour audio-only memoir follows Giddens as she examines the multitude of influences and identities that have led her to a life "nestled in the nexus" - defined and further made whole by the sum of her parts. She recounts the celebrated artist's life from childhood to present and explores her discovering many different types of music: classical/opera, folk/contra, Irish/Gaelic, traditional string band music, historical music, and beyond. Throughout To Balance on Bridges, she performs tracks from several of her acclaimed albums, and leads listeners through a multitude of musical styles, lyrical patterns, and instrumentation, confronting questions on race, culture, appropriation, and class with searing precision. Audible's signature Words + Music series has recently featured musicians like Common, Tom Morello, and Patti Smith.
Rhiannon Giddens perform music from They're Calling Me Home and more on tour with Francesco Turrisi this fall.
