Cucamaras Release Post-Punk Foot Stomper 'Safe Bet'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) After their successful release 'Death of The Social', the Nottingham quartet did not stop there, as their upcoming offering 'Safe Bet' is a guitar ringing, post-punk, foot stomping anthem.
Cucamaras channel the scratchy instrumental tracks of Parquet Courts and Car Seat Headrest in their new single 'Safe Bet', whilst returning to the lyrical wit of previous singles. Exploring the often mind-numbing experiences of university, and the implications of a failing social life, the band take an inward look at the indirect experiences of lyricist, Josh Hart, who states that this was the first time that he'd written about an observation he was making at the time."
"Safe Bet was written whilst I was in university. It was one of the first times I'd written about direct experiences, not my own, but what I was observing at the time. Safe Bet was me, sat hungover in my grim uni room, deeping how it's actually really sad and mentally draining to navigate complex relationships at uni, but I do tap into the whit of it all at times too.

The lyrics themselves were written about a year before they were paired with music. I wrote the guitar riff during one of the numerous lockdowns of 2020 and originally had it penned for a darker, slower track, but when we took it to the practice room it found a new lease of life, Joe's drums sound like they could be taken from Parquet Courts' debut or a Cure record, whilst the vocals from myself and ad-libs from Dan feel very Jamie T.

In the past, we would have looked for a huge outro for a track like this, but I think we agreed that main body of this song was strong enough to speak for itself, we've learnt where to reign it in and it feels like this one ends as quick as it starts, which I hope leaves people wanting more." - Josh Hart (Vocals)

Following up from their new found sound, the band have certainly made their mark with raging reviews from DIY, EARMILK, Clash Magazine and Louder Than War. Cucamaras have also successfully entered the ears of the Nation with airplay from BBC 6 Music, Radio X, XS Manchester, BBC Introducing and SiriusXM.

Cucamaras are a post-punk four piece who have emanated a sound that has been recently developed and compared to by well-established bands of the same genre. Cucamaras have added their own edge and angst that is bound to draw you in.

The group formed of Josh Hart, Olly Bowley, Dan McGrath and Joe Newton have developed a strong interest from their local scene in Nottingham, as well as in cities such as Sheffield and Newcastle around the UK. Working through the pandemic, they have collated an impressive exhibition of new tracks, with their most recent release, 'Death of the Social' receiving critical acclaim. With a strong tour schedule prepared for 2021, including dates in Nottingham, Manchester and Liverpool, as well as appearances at this year's Y Not Festival and Splendour Festival, they are set to continue going from strength to strength as live music returns with further releases already recorded and ready to go.
