Creed's Weathered Debuts At No. 1; Marks Best First-Week Rock Sales This Year

NEW YORK (Top 40 Charts) - Creed's third album, Weathered, bows at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 behind 887,229 in sales, making the debut the highest first-week sales for a rock album this year.

The album also takes its place as the second highest first-week sales overall for the year, behind 'NSync's Celebrity's first-week numbers of 1,879,955 in August and bumping Britney Spears' Britney to the third best first-week sales of the year.

Elsewhere in the top 10, last week's No. 1, Garth Brooks' Scarecrow, falls to No. 4 as Now That's What I Call Music! 8 (featuring U2, 'NSync, Destiny's Child, and others) lands in the No. 2 spot behind a still-impressive 548,908 in sales. Kid Rock's Cocky (No. 7) and Pink's Missundaztood (No. 8) round out the top 10 debuts. Meanwhile, Britney moves from No. 2 to No. 3 and Now That's What I Call Christmas! takes a 10-spot leap up to No. 5.

Landing in this week's top 40 are Timbaland and Magoo's Indecent Proposal (No. 29), Smashing Pumpkins' Greatest Hits (No. 31), Ghostface Killah's Bulletproof Wallets (No. 34), Jill Scott's Experience: Jill Scott (No. 38), Mick Jagger's Goddess in the Doorway (No. 39), and Sting's All This Time (No. 40).

Other notable debuts include Dungeon Family's Even in Darkness (No. 42), Eightball's Almost Famous (No. 47), Bee Gees' Their Greatest Hits: The Record (No. 49), Marc Anthony's Libre (No. 57), Too Short's Chase the Cat (No. 71), Sarah Brightman's Classics (No. 78), Clint Black's Greatest Hits II (No. 97), Prince's The Rainbow Children (No. 108), the soundtrack to Lord of the Rings (No. 116), Mudvayne's Beginning of All Things to End (No. 122), and Kiss' The Box Set (No. 128).
