The Most Successful Movies Based On Games
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Over the many decades of video games, many attempts have been made to film them. Most often - unsuccessful, and there are several reasons for this.

It should be noted that many clubs, like the Bollywood Casino site, have games based on popular pk games. So if you are a fan of this genre, you can get acquainted.

Reasons for prejudice against movies based on games

  • First, sometimes people unfamiliar with the original were taken on such projects, which led to a total discrepancy between the film and the game. It happened, for example, with the 1983 film Super Mario Brothers, which was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the first movie based on a video game but was also entirely trashed by critics and failed at the box office.
  • Second, despite their similarities, games, and movies are still quite different: the former focus on gameplay, the latter on spectacle and storytelling. Therefore, elements considered appropriate in a game will probably not be "shot" in a movie based on the motif.
  • Third, any game, even a short game by today's standards, takes at least 6-8 hours to complete. Larger projects can take over 100 hours to complete. To fit the story of such a game in a two-hour movie. It has been burned, for example, by the authors of the film "Warcraft.

However, only some things are good. For example, many of the films on computer games have turned out, if not a masterpiece, at least watchable and even deserving of prestigious awards.

Bloodrain (2006)

The story of this film centers on Rayne, a half-blood vampire who avenges the murder of her mother. Despite her vampire origins, Raine does not drink the blood of innocents: she only quenches her thirst with the blood of vampires. To finally calm down, the heroine must destroy the main vampire Kagan - partly her father, who leads the bloodsuckers and their atrocities. To defeat the powerful vampire, Raine must collect three talismans that give the wearer tremendous power.

Silent Hill (2006)

When one thinks of the best movies based on the game, one is bound to talk about the film adaptation of the iconic Silent Hill series. The creators combined all the major story elements from the most famous parts and put them together into a single narrative. This movie is about a single mother, Rose, whose daughter, Sharon, has an inexplicable illness. At night, the girl has nightmares and whispers the town's name, "Silent Hill." Disappointed with all other therapies, the desperate mother takes her daughter to a backwater town where she encounters paranormal events.

Dead or Alive (2006)

It is another fighting game adaptation centered around a martial arts tournament. Its participants must fly to an exotic island, where they must fight each other. Even though the fighters are officially fighting for the prize money in the form of 10 million dollars, the organizer of the event, Donovan, has very different plans for them and everything that is happening.

Postal (2007)

Rarely do video game adaptations feature the same level of brutality as Postal. However, the degree of satire on modern society here is also strikingly high. Suffice it to say that the main events in Paradise begin when the local mall is stocked with interestingly convex "Croci" toys. A real fight breaks out over these toys: terrorists want to get their hands on them and infect them with a strain of bird flu, while local hippies try to steal and resell them. Somewhere in the middle is a simple letter carrier named Dude, who doesn't like everything that's happening.

Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)

In the third part of Alice's misadventures, she has to fight the Umbrella Corporation, which has gone completely insane and is trying to repopulate the Earth with more "perfect" versions of humans. All this turns into another battle with zombies, through the crowds of which Alice tries to make her way to the inhumane scientists and insane politicians. They have set up such a cruel experiment on humanity.

Hitman (2007)

Many movies based on the games simplify the plot part of the source, but in this case, the creators, on the contrary, expanded and deepened the motivation of the main character and elaborated on his past. Agent 47 got his name from the barcode tattooed on the back of his head that is applied to all artificially bred assassins. But everything changes when the hunter himself becomes a victim and becomes embroiled in big politics and its attendant intrigues. In an attempt to escape the persecution of Interpol and the Russians, the agent suddenly realizes that for the first time in his life, he is gripped by strange, unfamiliar feelings.

In the Name of the King (2008)

Given the rarity of fantasy films in the classic sense, every such film is especially worth appreciating. The film adaptation of the Dungeon Siege computer game, among other things, boasts the presence of prominent actors - Jason Statham and Ron Perlman - in priority roles. The story revolves around palace intrigue and human battles with the beast-like people of the Kraggs. Against the backdrop of the ongoing war in the kingdom of Ehb, protagonist Damon searches for his missing wife and avenges his son's death.

Max Payne (2008)

The story of an ordinary New York policeman, who lost his family in one unfortunate night, has become an incredibly stylish story, which in the film adaptation got spectacular visuals.

Max Payne's tragedy is that a deranged psychopath kills his family one day. So naturally, Max immediately begins his investigation to take revenge. Still, it quickly becomes apparent that some high-ranking forces are involved, pinning the murder of an innocent man on Payne himself. After this, the policeman has nothing to lose and tries to shed light on this mysterious story with all his might.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009)

It is another video game adaptation of the Street Fighter series. But unlike the Van Damme film, this time, the creators tried to follow closer to the original and simultaneously bring one of the most famous heroines, Chun-Li, to the forefront. In the film, the girl from a pianist turns into a master of martial arts, filling the screen time with spectacular action and numerous battles. And all this to avenge the criminals and bandits for his father's death.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010)

Disney's adaptation of the famous Prince of Persia series has left fans with mixed feelings. On the one hand, the classic story was well adapted, but on the other, they made many minor changes that are hard to imagine in the original. For example, the prince is the only time in the character's existence received his name - Dastan. However, as in the game, he will have to fight the villains using a powerful artifact that can turn back time. It makes the hero almost the ruler of the world, and it helps to defeat the remaining opponents with talent and excellent command of edged weapons. Since Disney has never been stingy with budgets for its movies, the classic game makes a great action-adventure film with a juicy picture.

Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)

In the fourth installment of her adventures, Alice continues to fight the Umbrella Corporation, which has threatened the world with total destruction. This time Alice has a personified enemy, the pursuit to which a significant portion of the film is devoted. The creator and current chairman of the corporation, Albert Wesker, will show inhuman agility and strength, as little humanity is left in him. Fans have long awaited the appearance of this character, and in the end, the screen incarnation turned out to be worthy of the original.
