Female Musicians Who Like To Gamble
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Some of us have a secret desire to pry into the personal lives of our favorite celebrities. What they're eating at restaurants, what embarrassing outfits the paparazzi have caught them in, and, of course, their romantic lives are all things that cross our minds.

Not all hobbies and interests are created equal, though. For example, the question of which famous women enjoy games of craps online receives significantly more coverage than, say, which musicians are big fans of the ukulele. The following is a list of some of the most well-known women who have tried their hand at gambling in various casinos.

Lady Gaga

A worldwide rendition of "P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face" became a viral sensation in late 2008 and early 2009. As soon as she appeared on the scene, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta—better known by her stage name, Lady Gaga—became a phenomenon. She captivated us with her music, fashion sense, and activism from the moment she first appeared in the public eye.

Even though she's famous for her "Poker Face," Lady Gaga's secret passion is actually the card game. Gaga has frequently discussed her love of gambling in interviews. A residency in the gambling capital of the world, Las Vegas, is just the latest stop on her tour. In 2017, the Sankyo Gaming Company in Japan made Lady Gaga-themed slot machines, which you might find fun.

Gladys Knight

Gladys Knight, aka "the Empress of Soul," has been performing since the late 1940s, when she began singing in church choirs. The hits she recorded with the group "The Pips" and as a solo artist have earned her a total of seven Grammy Awards, out of a total of 22 nominations.

While she was a resident of Las Vegas in the early 1980s, her love for gambling began to become apparent. Gladys told the Los Angeles Times that she started gambling because she was bored in between shows.

That all began when a friend of hers introduced her to Blackjack. She started out betting lightly, but as her interest grew, so did the size of her bets. Gladys's financial situation deteriorated after she went through a traumatic divorce and was kidnapped, both of which were expensive. She would gamble to win enough money to buy her children necessities like school supplies.

After winning $60,000 at the table and immediately losing it all, she came to terms with the ugliness of her addiction. They picked up the phone when she dialed Gamblers Anonymous. She had a ten-year gambling addiction, but after one meeting with him, she supposedly kicked the habit cold turkey.

Between Each Line of Pain and Glory is Gladys's memoir about her life in Las Vegas casinos, where she made friends with the pit bosses and dealers and felt safe from the paparazzi and con artists.

Madonna

According to a recent article, the pop icon took home two trophies at this year's SuperEnaLotto ceremony. After purchasing 125 tickets for the 2007 World Tour, she won approximately €160,000 (around €134,000). She used her earnings to fund the construction of a school in Malawi, where she eventually moved to adopt her children.

Madonna's grandparents are from Italy, so she plays the Italian lottery known as SuperEnaLotto. Due to the obvious lack of a centralized system for the sale of lottery tickets in the United States, she has to play the lottery online and rely on messengers to buy and deliver her tickets.

The Takeaway

These women have proven themselves as successful performers in the entertainment industry (literally). They have won many awards for their work, and they still fight for a good cause. They enjoy gambling, and, surprisingly, they are quite successful at it.
