Josh Ross Releases Spotify Singles Cover Of "Girl From The North Country" With Jackson Dean
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Emerging country hitmaker Josh Ross has released a Spotify Singles collaboration with Jackson Dean, out today. The two Hot Country Artists to Watch teamed up to cover Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash's iconic "Girl from the North Country." Ross and Dean infuse their soulful sound into this story of lost love, resulting in a heartfelt and modern take on the classic.
"I'm excited for this song to be out," shares Ross. "When Jackson brought the song 'Girl from the North Country' to me, I immediately felt connected to it and hadn't heard it in so long. I'm a huge Johnny Cash fan and always think of my roots in the North. I love that I got the chance to lean into a different vibe than what I normally record through this song."
"It's a damn good tune," adds Dean. "I hope we did it justice for Dylan and Cash. This song has been a long time favourite of mine and it was a cool shot to interpret it with Josh."

The track follows previous releases from Ross including "Red Flags," a pair of Top 5 Canadian country radio hits - "On A Different Night" and "First Taste of Gone" - and his debut US single, "Trouble," hitting country radio this summer. Recently sharing the bill with Chase Rice and Lee Brice, he will join Nickelback and Brantley Gilbert on the GET ROLLIN' TOUR across North America this summer. Echoing the primary themes of country infused with a fresh, modern sound, Josh Ross's take on love, work, and play is often documented through his whirlwind experiences. Developing an ever-evolving career amidst the drawbacks of injuries, lockdowns, and conflicting relationships, Josh Ross is a country artist bound by the act of forging past and overcoming restraints. Josh Ross debuted with his independently released cathartic ballad on romantic losses, "First Taste Of Gone," which garnered stellar traction across North America for the Nashville-based singer. Capturing attention across the US with placement on Spotify's top country playlists like Hot Country, New Boots, and more, "First Taste of Gone" proved the rising Nashville star's emerging presence in the genre.
Recently, Josh Ross has pushed even further in his career with his major label signing to Universal Music, teaming up with Universal Music Group Nashville, and management by The Core Entertainment. Often writing from personal experiences, Josh Ross has tallied nearly 90 million streams across his collection of songs. In addition to "On A Different Night" and "First Taste of Gone," his catalog includes summertime anthem "Tall Boys," and the latest too-close-to-home emotional track "Red Flags." This year, Josh Ross was announced as one of Spotify's Hot Country Artists To Watch 2023 and already garnered his second Top 5 Canadian radio hit with "On A Different Night." His debut US single, "Trouble," is hitting country radio airwaves this summer, as he joins Nickelback and Brantley Gilbert on the GET ROLLIN' TOUR. Stay tuned for more from Josh Ross as he continues to anchor himself as one of country's most promising new artists.

Fast-rising Country singer/songwriter Jackson Dean is quickly earning a reputation for his old school, gritty, lyric-driven, outlaw style of Country following a breakout year that landed him on Pandora's Ten for 2023 (all genre), Spotify's Hot Country Artists to Watch 2023, Apple Music's Country Risers, the CMT Listen Up class of 2023, CRS New Faces 2023, Amazon Music's 2023 Breakthrough Artists to Watch: Country Class as well as a slew of other artist to watch lists…in addition to earning a nomination at the ACM Awards for Best New Male of the Year. Mature beyond his years, Jackson opted to move out to a cinderblock, concrete floor, one-room shack on the back of his grandfather's property with no heat and no plumbing at just 18 years old. An adventurous and carefree spirit, the 22-year-old multi-instrumentalist, is also an old soul and skilled artisan whose pastimes include making leather goods, wood-burned art and disappearing into the woods to sleep under the stars. Bringing that same sense of adventure and downhome vibe to his songwriting, the "modern-day Country rambler" (Taste of Country) burst on the scene, showing people how real music can be with his atmospheric, musically-forward debut album Greenbroke (out now via Big Machine Records). The Maryland native's single, "Don't Come Lookin'" was the fastest debut to reach No. 1 in 2022 and cemented Jackson as the youngest solo male Country artist to reach the top of the charts with a debut. Landing spots on the Billboard Hot 100, the soundtrack for Netflix's The Ice Road and a John Dutton scene in Yellowstone. The rugged music video for the track also earned a nomination at the 2023 CMT Music Awards for Breakthrough Male Video of the Year. His sophomore single, "Fearless (The Echo)" is currently climbing through the Top 40 on the Country radio charts after being Most Added upon impact. His Live From The Ryman album featuring fan favourite previously unreleased track "Heavens to Betsy" is available now. Following an early career of local performances in his hometown, Jackson has joined bills with superstar acts like Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert, Brantley Gilbert, Kane Brown, Jake Owen, Brooks & Dunn, Lee Brice, HARDY and Brothers Osborne and found himself on the bill for credible events like Austin City Limits and Stagecoach. The young talent recently wrapped the Back to the Honky Tonk Tour with Blake Shelton and Carly Pearce and will join dates with Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Jon Pardi and Parker McCollum later this year.
