Sydney, Au. (Universal
Music Australia) - Hot on the heels of their signing with Universal
Music Australia, comes the news that the band are now stable mates with such acts as PJ Harvey, Keane, and Ladytron.
Said Stuart Coupe of Laughing Outlaw Records and Management,'One of the major things that attracted Starky to Universal was that the Australian company has a real global perspective. They told us they'd move hell and high water to get a committed release on Island Records in the UK and they've delivered exactly that. A major priority for Starky in 2006 is touring that territory as often as possible to give Island as much support as possible. Having made the album in London and Wales it'll be great to go back over to perform the songs live."
Starky's self titled EP, which came from the album sessions recorded with Dave Eringa, was released locally on November 20th. The first track ‘Is This How It Ends' is a commanding rock track that is now hitting radio and television screens everywhere.
Recorded in the UK by renowned producer David Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild, Ash, Starsailor, Ocean Colour Scene,), Starky's self-titled EP shatters the tired mould of Australian pop-rock, to deliver three vigorous guitar-driven tunes. Lead by the powerfully reverberant vocals of Beau Cassidy; watch this Sydney quintet carve their share of the airwaves across the country.
Originally a three piece band, consisting of front man Beau Cassidy, Nick Neal on Bass and Saul Foster on Drums, Starky have now expanded to five member team with Johnny Wilson (ex-Faker) adding to Guitars and Peter Farley (former member of Gelbison) on Keys.
Look out for Starky's new album due for release in April 2006.
